---------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Watermelons and melons, in general, are amongst the fruits with the highest sugar content. Watermelon is high on the glycemic index and contains very little fiber. Try pairing it with low GI, high fiber fruits.
2) Pineapples are very high in sugar content, 100grams of pineapple could flood about 10 grams of sugar into your bloodstream. One cup of pineapple will give you over 100% of your daily recommended vitamin C.
3) Bananas are high in carbohydrates, and one medium-sized banana has around 14 grams of sugar. One banana also gives you about 10% of your daily recommended intake of fiber.
4) 1 date alone will give you around 18 grams of carbs and nearly 70 calories. Dates also come packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory flavonoids as well as carotenoids.
5) Mangoes are amongst the most dangerous fruits for diabetics to consume. One cup of mangoes contains about 23 grams of sugar and 100 calories.
6) Dried fruits may seem like a healthy snack, but by removing the water content of these fruits, the sugar content becomes highly concentrated.

My oldest son is in his early 20's and he has type 1 diabetes. But thank God for this piece of article kzbin.infoUgkxVYhghKWmrUgXARZ_ydZTvmmcrw5L0I5i At first he thought he had the flu and was lying down on the bed for three days until his sister took him to the hospital. They took his blood and it was 600. What I do not understand is how he could have gotten it, since no one in the family has it. But he is winning the battle now. This is good stuff.

*My daughter drinks lots of water and urinates with the same rate, there are no other symptoms to show if those have anything to do with diabetes. This is a good information that I have gone through **Diabets.Care** She is 2 years 9 months, hale and healthy, have not done any blood test. But I am not certain if one can get diabetes at such a tender age. Please I will like to know more on that*

As a medical doctor in Vienna, I am sorry that the information provided here is out-moded and incomplete. If the fruits are not combined with fats and/or oils they are perfectly safe for Diabetes Type II. The book written by two brilliant Americans, Cyrus Khambatta and Robby Barbaro, "Mastering Diabetes" explains the details backed up by numerous medical researches. My fruit-lover DM patients have a hearty lunch consisting of 6-7 portions of fruit (including orange, banana, mango, pineapple, watermelon, etc.) with some fresh ground chia seeds and flaxseeds. All fruits have protein and fat anyway! Some patients dropped 20 kg (44lbs) within 4-5 months; Hb1Ac of some patients dropped from 11 or 12 down to 6.5 or 7. The medications they use have been reduced dramatically. Most of them did not require insulin after a while. Many of the patients also follow an intermittent diet under medical supervision. They have a vegetarian or vegan dinner without calorie counting. When carbohydrates are consumed with proteins and fats/oils, their absorption is delayed due to some additional chemical processes that proteins and fats/oils do not undergo..Meanwhile, the proteins and oils/fats are transferred to the muscle and liver cells, where they are needed most, more quickly and these cells are saturated with these molecules. The processed carbohydrates arrive later and are not absorbed right away by the already "fed" cells. They accumulate in the blood. Signals go to the pancreas about this excessive sugar and it starts pumping insulin. In 1920´s the Japanese doctors used to treat severe cases of Diabetes with cooked white rice and fruits without amount restriction (However, no fats, no oils, no salt. No salt, due to the severity of the disease. )

I disagree with number 5, watermelon. While it is true that watermelon has a high GI of 72 per 100g, it is necessary to calculate the glycemic load, which is extremely low at only 2 per 100 g serving. This actually makes watermelon a fairly good choice for diabetics when consumed in moderation.

Use the measurement of glycemic index guide onfoid intake n your diabetes is under control. My reading dec 2021 was 21.5 but now it is 5.2 consistently for past 10 days. Not only too much sugar but carbohydrates can spike your blood glucose level. B complex n vitamin E helps in controlling your nerves n maintaining them.

Yep..watermelon will raise your blood sugar but there is a guy who says to cure diabetes even type 1 eat berries and watermelon. I did it for a few days.. yes my blood sugars were high but after I went back to regular food I noticed when I drank coffee I didn't need to take any insulin for the creamer where as before I'd have to take a unit .. so I think there is something to the fruit curing it..I was using something else to cure myself but my teeth are really starting to hurt eating meat.. and you have to eat meat in order for this stuff to work on curing you.. but I think I'm going to go the fruit route because it's a lot healthier and my teeth won't hurt..

Water Mellon Glycemic Load (GL): 5 = Low. That is because it is 92% water. So it is not only GI but the amount of sugar per serving that counts (GL). That means that watermelon should not be avoided, but rather consumed in small servings. Not to mention the high content in lycopene, which is very reccomandable.

I like to eat these fruits mixed with other things as a SUBSTITUTE for sugar. Most mornings I have a breakfast of berries-blue berries, black berries, strawberries, and raspberries when I can get them (Aldi's has most year round) and add 1/2 of a banana instead of sugar. Also I have a bean salad that incorporates roasted corn and diced watermelon with jalapenos, red onions, celery, green and red bell peppers, spices, and balsamic vinegar and oil. The sweet corn and melon is offset by the red beans, black beans, and garbanzos so the corn, watermelon ,and balsamic vinegar just adds a bit of sweetness and moisture to the beans

Pineapple is OK, but not Pineapple juice (wrongly pictured in the clip). That is because the sugars (in fact we are talking mainly about fructose) are slowly released in the body when one consumes the whole fruit. The whole fruit keeps the sugars in a fiber matrix, a matrix which is destroyed by making juice and therefore the sugars are much more rapidly getting into the blood circulation.

I hear more conflicting information on a regular basis I hear don't worry about natural sugar it fruits but added sugar so what should I do eat it or not ?
@DiabetesSmartsProgram
@DiabetesSmartsProgram 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it can be confusing, Lewis. Added sugars can be found in most any packaged product, even in products you wouldn't think have added sugar. Natural sugars are simply found within whole foods - that means, fruits, vegetables, whole wheat breads, beans, etc. When you hear about carbohydrate content of a food, that's what will be converted to glucose when you eat it. So your body may react in a similar manner when you eat an apple versus when you eat some candy apple packaged junk food - but the whole apple will also supply you with fiber and other nutrients, which can help slow your body's insulin response. The candy version, with added simple sugars, like fructose, will get metabolized much more quickly and can cause a blood sugar spike. Plus, they won't give you fiber or other beneficial nutrients. So most fruits can be eaten as part of a healthy diet, as long as you eat them in moderation. But the same can't be said for added sugar junk foods.

Many years ago we were taught to avoid healthy foods like fruits and veggies. It is more about portion size and glycemic index.

Since ALL foods have carbs , it appears diabetics should not eat food at all if we want to control our blood sugar levels. I am a Type 2 diabetic. How about vegetables? Is a vegetarian diet good for us diabetics? I love a good salad without dressing.

My father has type 2 Diabetes and he eats fruit. Growing up from a West African background fruit is a must. Very healthy. Fructose is a natural sugar. His doctor told him it was fine. The key is moderation against your insulin levels. You cannot for example eat a mango and a orange everyday. Moderation is key. His diabetes is very well regulated and has greatly improved. And yes salad 🥗 can be good for you. Green leafy vegetables especially. Speak to your doctor.

Thanks for sharing Dr moderation is always the right way but it's also very confusing one doctor is saying eat as much as possible and the other one saying we have to limit. To me I have to play my own doctor since the all the doctors giving us different advice about the same thing.

In reality certain berries in strict moderation, but preferrably only once you have dealt with your insulin resistance. Fibre is easily obtained from low GI vegetables, preferrably raw or some may be lightly cooked. Vitamin C is easily obtained from fresh lemon juice & bell peppers. Be aware of the peanut buttet you choose. Many have added sugar & additives. Bananas are not recommended, B vitamins are better obtained from unfortified nutritional yeast. Avoid snacking & try to keep nett carbs under 20g per day & preferrably less than 10g & don't forget to get sufficient low intensity exercise & vitamin D3, preferrably from sun exposure. Diabetic medications all have negative side effects. Any juices are essentially a fibre free shock to your insulin levels, with or without added sugar. Do your research if you have issues & ensure it is peer reviewed & ASK QUESTIONS.

It's not the fruit that is bad for you. But what corporations does to the fruit once it goes to you. Sugar that comes from organic fruit the body knows what to do with it. The factory box process of sugar is no good. That is what your body does not know what to do with. Meat and dairy is another thing.
