Excellent list. 4 additional women I would also include: -Rosemary Woodhouse in Rosemary's Baby. She resisted a Satanic cult (including her husband and "cult approved" doctor) until the very end, when she reseignedly accepted her role as a nurturing mother figure for the anti-christ. -Wendy Torrence of The Shining. Sure, she was walking, quivering active living trauma in real time, but she ultimately survived and managed to help save the life of her son. -Rocky of Don't Breathe. She thwarted a capable blind opponent, a Rottweiler, and being artificially inseminated. And was rewarded with a bag of cash and the possibility of a new life. -Dr Elizabeth Shaw of Prometheus. In addition to everything else, she had to perform a med-pod self abortion of an alien life form. Sure, she encountered her demise due to a malfunctioning Android in the sequel, but that's besides the point.

I don't know where I'd put her, but Sam Carpenter from Scream 5 is underrated imo. I love that she is flawed. She is dealing with mental health and struggling on not to become like you know who. She jumps in and tries to protect her sister. I respect that as soon as she realizes why she's being targeted she tells Tara instead of keeping that secret until the end. I love that she is not a carbon copy of Sidney. That moment when she embraces the dark side for a moment and takes out the killer is perfection. Also I recently gave NOES another try and fell in love with Nancy. Hoping we get a requel one day soon.

Surprisingly, Willie Scott of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom put her arm in a hole full of real bugs to pull a lever to save Indy and Short Round; Jennifer Corvino of Phenomena telekinetic with insects and sleepwalks; Jennifer Connelly also played the mother in Dark Water protecting her child in their new home that’s haunted with a curse; Janet Coslaw (Marty’s sister) of The Silver Bullet the first narrated 80s werewolf horror film by Tovah Feldshuh voiced as older Janet offscreen; and Chris Higgins of Friday the 13th Part III gave Jason the axe, but later, she’s in shock and traumatized when first responders escort her to an ambulance; and Lori Campbell of Freddy vs Jason tried to revive Jason with mouth to mouth resuscitation while Freddy was drowning him in the dream world. Lori went under sleep and pulled Freddy into the real world to fight Jason before she ends both of them at Crystal Lake.

Always love to see a ranking list that's set up for discussion. Respect for your list and putting it out there I just have a few tweaks from my own perspective Laurie is top 3 without a doubt if the argument is made about one specific movie that's a discussion to be had but she's now outlasted Michael in 5 different movies the overall Arc needs to be considered. Also switch Jamie and Rachel and move Jamie up five spots whole we're at it. Lastly same argument for Ripley she's for sure top three all time and due to the overall Arc not just one film.

I don't know if this is general knowledge (at least among horror fans), but I didn't know the origin of the term "final girl" until the last couple of years. I found it really cool to discover it came from an academic, Carol Clover, who analyzed horror through the frame of feminist theory. She came to the conclusion that modern horror films are designed to align spectators not with the male tormentor, but with the female character (the "final girl") who defeats him. It has the unlikely title of "Men, Women, and Chain Saws: Gender in the Modern Horror Film" and was published in 1992. If you ever decide to react to the book, I would absolutely love it!

My two favorite final are Ginny from Friday the 13th part 2 and Grace from Ready or Not. Ginny used psychology as her first option to get Jason to let his guard down. Grace was just an amazing survivor who turns into a bad*ss at the end. And she did it all while wearing a restricting wedding dress! You gotta give Grace extra points for that. 😁

Great video! Personally I hate the crap out of Gale and she is annoying to watch personally and I feel the complete opposite and she is one of my least favorite characters in the franchise , but it’s a great list nonetheless and I’m glad there is someone else who also loves Allyson as well, and Sidney is my number one personally.🐐

You know...Nancy Thompson wouldn't be that high on my list either. Neither would Halloween 78's Laurie Strode. H20 Laurie Strode however...yeah. Top Ten. Alice from Nightmare would absolutely rank higher than any other final girl in the Nightmare series for me. I definitely feel like Lorraine Warren would be in my top 10. I do think Jenny would've been higher for me from F13. Kyle from Child's Play 2 is top 10. Without a doubt Sydney and Gale are my 1 and 2, Scream being my favorite franchise aside. You can't tell me that having 2 women making it through 5 movies and actually FIGHTING in all of them doesn't merit a 1 and 2 placement.
