The scariest one for me was the fallout one. The others are meant to be horrifying, and scare you into doing the thing they are trying to promote. IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND #2 (APACHES), READ BELOW: It was an 5 minute edited version of a 26 minute film so it's very jumpy. The kids are playing make-believe on the farm area that the girl's family owns. The first boy falls under the tractor wheel and gets crushed. The girl accidentally swallowed some of the toxic weed killer they were 'mime-drinking' and it killed her from inside, hence the screaming. The second boy got crushed by falling metal piping, I saw a sharp edge of sorts that I think skewered his head. By the end, all the kids are dead except for one. All the deaths are spaced out and farm-related deaths were common back then, hence the lack of real grief anywhere. The PIF is basically just showing how farm-related accidents were so prevalent at the time and we needed to be more careful. Hope that cleared some of it up.
@p0rq7 жыл бұрын

@toria-j6 жыл бұрын
I recall three children managing to lock themselves inside an old freezer on a farm outbuilding, found too late. And, there's always tyres falling over. Ditto hay bales. Slurry deaths are quite common too - a whole Irish family apart from the mother/sister died not so long ago - one lad was a well-known rugby player. Suicide is the greatest threat for most farmers though.

Just the sound of the nuclear fallout warning freaks me out! I live in a small town in Ontario in Canada and we're known for having one of the largest nuclear/power plants , which also unfortunately has us known as one of the top 10 places that are the most likely to be targeted for bombings/attacks to harm the USA since we're a border town. Just the thought of hearing a fallout warning makes me shake because it's one of my biggest fears, especially since it's not a normal thing to have fallout shelters where I live.
@Dataj45354 жыл бұрын
Depends on where you live. Canada itself isn't likely to be nuked, since the country doesn't posses nuclear weapons of it's own. Even if it's a border town, it won't be the subject of air raids unless it's near a bomb target ie; major cities, military bases, government buildings, etc.

I knew someone when I was young who was killed in a grain elevator accident similar to the one depicted here. I never heard exactly how it happened but, I heard that the kid was already dead by the time they could pull him out of it. He had the weight of all of that grain on top of him funneling through that flue that had kept him pinned and trapped against it, and it could not be closed from the other end because his leg was caught down in the chute. He was essentially suffocated to death in the grain. Just like with quicksand, it is the weight against your chest leaving you unable to expand and compress your lungs that kills you quickly even if you can hold your breath. Of-course one will panic quickly and attempt to scream and climb and breathe, but once you take in those kernels - that are dusty and jagged - they get painfully lodged into your eyes and throat and lungs making you furthermore panic and give coughs that you cannot give that quickly reciprocates more of the same Hell. It does not take very long at all to die here.

In it's own way it does. But only under the right circumstances. Films like Apaches were intended only for the rural communities of England specifically because these situations were not only based on real life events, but are just a tad more preventable with the right amount of "this could be you if you don't start thinking". If you push the envelope to convince kids that they should never leave the house, then they'll grow up to be about as useful to society as a novelty shop medal. The way you approach them is just as important as why you approach them. Common Sense doesn't come automatically.

Just a common-sense question: PSAs are meant to be seen by as many people as possible--free of charge--to maximize their exposure. So why would there be concerns of copyright infringement by KZbin for posting them? Aren't lawyers great?
@HelloImAPizza8 жыл бұрын
I have no idea. I still don't understand copyright in terms of archived and outdated commercials or PSAs. It's not like I'm reuploading movie clips or copyrighted songs and then making money off them. It makes no sense to copyright something like that. And I strongly believe that the way I am using these commercials falls under the Fair Use policy: I am not reuploading them in their original format, but rather a compilation format that is solely used to educate and entertain people.

No, they can still do sent runs. And of they happen to come across a fox they are allowed to follow it. They can't go out 'with intent of finding a fox' The twats were always coming through the yard were we kept our horse. They don't look after their horses properly, they bounce around on their backs and then when the horse is inevitably injured it's just put down and replaced. When the hunt came through we had to put all dogs and cats inside because the hounds will tare apart anything they get too fox or not, they killed a dog. They 100% are hunting real foxes because they've chased them through the yard, my Mum managed to hide one in her stable once.
