You’re right there is a special connection to a rifle that you put time and effort into. My wasr-10 is my cheapest AK but I love handling it as it cost me a few blisters and a ton of frustration to fit BFPU furniture to it. These ammo prices have me looking to shoot 22lr at the range

I agree, answering the question what is your favorite ak is hard, i like all my ak’s … usually my answer is “my favorite ak is the last one i bought” 😂 but in reality i love THE AK … not a specific one in my humble collection … but there is one ak that makes me happy, it is not the best accuracy wise and it is not the lightest and definitely doesn’t have the best ergonomics but it really makes me happy! My circle 11 akms build, it kicks like a mule, it rattles my jaw and smells like cosmoline but i wanted it for so long and ever since i bought it I can’t resist handling it and taking it to the range i freggin love that thing

Funny you mention WASR’s. I had a 2018 or so that I had consistent failure to fire light strikes. Turned out the bolt was out of spec / too long. It was my first underfolder and I loved it. But after it was fixed I sent it on due to the bad experience.

I put a polish laminate furniture set on my WASR-10 v2 at first I was super upset with the gap between the receiver and the stock but I'm happy to see your jack has it also lol!

7.62x39 is a boss mule deer brush gun cartridge. We have plenty in Canada still. Barnaul soft point stuff is everywhere here. Is there a ban on Chinese manufacture stuff there though? There are stacks of crates everywhere here. 500 leafbucks a crate here.

I wish zastava would bring in some m21s. Only downside is im sure knowing zastava, it would cost over 2k. The m91 vs m77 comparison leads me to think that. Doesnt seem like the m91 is much different than the m77 but cost twice as much.

I’d say they differ significantly. Caliber, barrel lengths and furniture materials and configuration are all different. You may be right about the price differential being too high though.

The M91 is significantly different from the M77. The M77 is an M70 in 7.62x51. The M91 is very much different. If you look up parts, you’ll see a significant difference. Obviously they’re both AK based, but it’s a different beast.

@@thetest8777 it depends on what you are after. The M77 is a great full power fighting rifle. The M91 is a true DMR. They fill differently niches and do different things. Neither one can do the others job. As far as cartridges, the 7.62x54R and 7.62 NATO are really not terribly different. The 7.62x54R has a bit more ballistic potential, but it’s really not enough to put one above the other.

My favorite is my.... hummm, amd65 or my sa2000m i am converting to akm-63 with the tupperware stock. Spray painted some black P grips, haven't had thr mag well or barrel done yet. Ak55 is my dream ak

I'm very happy with the Saiga'a I own, my old Yugo's I've built and also the Romanian I built as well. Looking at a 223 Saiga as the luck I've had. But man, they are getting to be way expensive. Still, all of the 7.62x39's I have and the 308's have been problem free and the basic real deal. I've never met an AK I didn't like. Hahahahaa great video and over the top information as I have always expected from you over the years!

I am so glad I got my AB2 kit, m72 kit and AMD 65 kit. I also scored a vz58 with original barrel about 2 years ago. All are built now and I absolutely love all of them, one I forgot about was a galil sar kit that I made 762x39 and it is a tank and awesome to shoot.

A month ago in a video, a representative of JRA mentioned that per importers with whom he had communicated, trunnions and gas blocks already were having to be cut. I have not seen any corroboration of this, though.

When kusa brings the kr101 to market I want to get one to fill the ak74 itch but in 5.56 already have a slr106u sbr so a 5.56 krink but 5.56 is a lot more useful in a 16 inch barrel

Speaking of 7.62 nato, the only bolt rifles that were general issue(not sniper rifles or match) that came FROM the factory in 7.62nato were the Ishapore lee Enfields. All the rest were conversions. Any one I've missed?

I have been collecting AKs for 40 years and loved this video, as many of the questions you answered were ones I had. I have a question regarding ALG triggers, as some “experts” say no way cause they cause excessive peening, while others say just file off the angled edge to a curve? I have several I wanted to install but all sitting waiting until I feel confident they won’t prematurely cause wear/damage. Misha is the only expert opinion I trust.

Agreed with 5.45. I am keeping/using mine until I run out of ammo, and then replacing it with a 5.56 AK. Its just not an objectively viable cartridge in the USA anymore.

Bought a WASR this week and the mag well was so tight it wouldn't even take the plastic mag it came with. it was 630 shipped and just took a few minutes with a file to fix but was kind of shocked QC didn't notice the mag didn't fit without hammering it in.

The Beryl scratches the AK74 itch really well. My SGL31 stays in the safe nowadays for the Beryl. Kind of want to get another one before they’re gone for good. It’s only a matter of time.

I'm obsessed with the pre-ban Polytechs and will not rest until I have one. Idk why. My brother bought a Norinco MAK-90 and I fell in love with it and through further research discovered the Polytechs. Only thing I don't like is the blued finish but that's not a deal breaker for me. Literally the only downside for me. I love CHI-COM AKs what can I say?

I hear you man. The blued finish is pleasing to the eye but it’s terrible for corrosion protection. CHI-COM AKs need to be well oiled and stored in a dry climate controlled environment.

I'm with you on the CHI-COM AK's. Have a 84s in 5.56 and and use PMC 223 ammo, almost no recoil and zero issues...

Wow, my fav AK? Going back to my first, a Chi-com with fixed stock and all red plastic furniture. Sad fact, it was stolen from me as was my HK91, out of a storage bin, while my Dad and me were moving. Another reason why trust for me, is hard to give. The 556 AK Polish Beryle, I agree. The military pedigree, shows!

I had a wbp jack 556 that I bought when they were first imported. And just sold it a week ago to my neighbor. And after around 2 thousand rounds never had a single malfunction. And ate every single different type of 556 or 223 I run through it. But it was definitely gassed heavy compared to other 556 aks I've run. I ended up putting a kns piston in to ease the gas off. But as far as barrel it was only offered with the polish nitride. And honestly it was super accurate. But was also one of the reasons I sold it. That and it was a commercial made ak for the u.s. market it wasn't a military grade ak. The left in the white bolt carrier was definitely not made the same as the 762x39 wbp jack. It got black and nasty easy and did not wipe off the same as the 762x39 or even the left in white zastavas it pretty much stained it. The grain of metal was way different

I can say that WBP has made some changes and hopefully improvements to their 556 barrels. This should include gassing and they 'say' slightly improved accuracy too.

@@misha5670 that's good Misha that was my only complaint. And the barrel was super accurate compared to my chrome lined ones. But the gassing was harsh. But overall it was wbp quality fit and finish. Besides like I said you could tell the grain of metal on the bolt carrier was definitely alot different than there 762x39 wbp jack. Guess I should have held off on a later model. Instead of ordering one when they first got imported. I really sold it to to go for the 556 beryl since it's a military grade 556 ak

Very good video. I have the jack 5.56 currently. Beryl 5.56 and arsenal sam7sf. That's it. I sold my collection of 84. pistols and rifles. No regrets. I have kept 1st gen. Walther pps for carry and purchased a vis m1 as I like it. Ammo is stocked fairly deep, and time is limited. So I'm not shooting it up. Steyr AUG, not nato, is all I want right now. Just trying to figure out what optic. Another rabbit hole if I'm not careful. Thanks for all you do Misha.

But i did answer your question. I said in the video that when people ask me questions about markings and look at pictures online, they themselves know more than I do at that point. You have to keep in mind I can't see markings/stampings, so there's little I can help with there. I mention this in the conclusions section of this video.

For 5.56 ak Zastava M90 is a great option that I would take any day over PSA, and I don't hate PSA. However with Zastava you get great quality, genuine build from a retro real military 5.56 design from Yugoslavia, made in a real combloc factory and imported, and with the current tensions in Serbia, the value is only going to go up. Import AKs are always the way to go. If a import ban happens again the value will skyrocket too. I have a M90 that I have put a few thousand rounds through, not a single malfunction and it's not only my favorite AK, it's my favorite 5.56 rifle period.

Good evening Misha... I just bought a Polish Pioneer Arms AK-47 7.62X32 Sporter a couple of days ago. It is Brand New never fired and the reason I have not fired it is because of all of the info on cast vs. forged trunnions and bolts. Do you have any suggestions as to where I would start to find out if the parts are made of cast? I looked for stream lines and I cannot find any. I was also told that if it had forged parts such as the trunnion the serial number would end with the letter "F". (I would love to be able to look the serial number up for year of manufacturing) Any help would be greatly appreciated. I hope my FFL did not sell me out with cast. If it is cast, what is your opinion on it? Safe to fire, will it explode, will it not last to 1,000 rounds etc?? I know you have a vast array of knowledge on the AK platform and would love your input. Love your videos and as I get more time I will view more! Thank you!

If I could only keep one AK for the rest of my life it would probably be a Zastava. The Serbian AKs are not my favorite aesthetically or ergonomically but if I were in a bug out or WROL situation I would want an overbuilt combat rifle. Next question what caliber. I guess I would want 7.62 x51 for added punch and distance. I would pick the M77.

That Polish Jack is a hard shooting gun. Seems overgassed even for an AK. Maybe the bolt carrier needs breaking in, but this thing was beating you up when you were shooting it.

I didn't think so, not at all. It just shoots like a 762x39 AK. The PAC AKM has more felt recoil to me personally. Then again, i actually like recoil as i started off firing mostly bolt actions with steel buttplates lol.

TBH i cannot say I'm disappointed either, there isn't a lot of firearms that make an impact on the u.s market for around 3 decades straight , the ak , sks and all the mutant rifle's have made a permanent role for 7.62x39mm in the u.s, 5.45 is now in the same boat as 5.7x28mm aka i only shoot mine when i can get new ammo in and just shoot that, not touching my 7n6 or GT 59gr FMJBT

'BE' means nothing, just the serial block. '53 thoough is the datecode and translates into 2013.

Vepr-Fm is the king of AK’s, besides those Valmets maybe 😂

If you only buy one Valmet, get one in 7.62x39. They sell for about a 50% premium over comparable Valmets in other calibers which aren’t cheap either. However they’re more rare and collectible. Also they have the least issues with plastic parts breakage, have replaceable firing pins, and take standard AK magazines unlike Valmets in other calibers which take rare, expensive proprietary magazines.

Guy who imports the Tela ammo says 1.5 million rounds of 5.45 will be available in December and everything month after that so good 5.45 ammo will be available be even he said won’t be cheap around 50 cpr but ammo is comparable to golden tiger so good stuff and 1.5 million rounds is nothing to sneeze at but still a niche . No import ak is worth more than 500. Cheap AR15 can outperform any ak there is. My father in law bought his Russian 74 for 300 now its worth over 3k 🤣

@@misha5670 seems like there’s more 7N6 ammo out there now than ever. On ammo seek it’s extremely plentiful these days. I think there days of holding on to it are over due to the major drop in gun sales. So they figure they better unload it while there’s some demand.
