Don’t their super aggressive and even if they are socialised they will bite if some stimulus kicks in and their bites make you go straight to the hospital, get a Sand instead their the same thing but a little smaller about 3 to 4 feet and are more chill

I just got my white throat monitor 3 weeks ago ur Argus taming vid is what got me here I’ve been trying to tame him down he’s a lil feisty tail whips and hisses a lot I haven’t been able to hold him since I got him but is now alright with me being in the enclosure a few pets here and there until he starts huffing nd puffing lol

Our local pet store has an emerald tree monitor who is out all the time, and it is absolutely beautiful! No one has ever bought it because of its price but still a stunning animal

Black throats top out around 7 feet and about 60lbs where an Asian water monitor can reach 10.5 feet and weigh in at 150lbs

I would suggest the rough necked monitor for a tree monitor if you want a tree monitor that you can interact with. Just a note- my white throat tripods for me when I’m working at changing the light bulbs in his enclosure. Climbs the log next to me and tripods to see what I’m doing. So cool.

Not really, Komodos get longer as well as heavier then any other Monitor both by length and mass. Longest croc (according to Wikipedia) was 2.44 m while the longest Komodo was 3.13 m. Even using averages Komodos grow longer then crocs (and of course so much more massive that a croc monitor would just be an appetizer to a komodo dragon).

Okay i'm kinda confused by that number 1 pick. I've seen and been told that while Argus monitors are absolutely cool, they don't exactly have the best of temperaments. I'm very inclined to get one, but it'd be my first monitor (not the first reptile). And i'm kinda afraid that i'll mess it up, or get one that's not so friendly. Any recommendations?

Actually.. White throats average 3-5 feet and 20 pounds (max is 6 feet and 50 pounds) Black throats average 4-6 feet and 30 pounds (max is 7 feet and 65 pounds) Water monitors average 5-7 feet and 40 pounds (max is 9 feet and 100 pounds)

Can/will a "Queen White-Throated Monitor" bite me, even if I buy them as a baby? Actually just saw a video of an owner that was bitten REAL badly by his own Monitor? He was warning ppl about that..? Personally, I think the Monitor could have felt threatened by him somehow.. Weird/Scary 🤔

It's an animal in general, and would not be considered a beginner pet, soof course they can bite (just like any animal/person has the ability to do). They also are smart and require a lot of work. Not to mention each one has it's own personality and moods can vary. Key is to learn their body language and have the skills to not get bit when it tries to bite you, cuz it's likely to try at some point (it's pretty rare to get one that doesn't require any work to get it calm around you at the beginning)
