Hi Sedge, like you show… It is great to see how you break everything down.. Now, for someone who is retired can you suggest products that are from this world. Not like the smaller companies who have gotten bit by the Festool “mark- everything -up-4x” flu. All the products are great but unaffordable. Thanks, Steven

Great tools. I I have the smaller TSO Triangle and I love it. I use it way more than I originally expected. No woodpeckers yet. One day….

Great tools don't have to be expensive but cheap tools can be VERY expensive. I like it. And for those of us that don't have your money (LOL) Bora makes cheaper versions of all of those (also good, I checked) and the Chinese engineer squares will get you there, too. Just use ONE SET of tools, don't keep jumping around.

I’m not gonna argue with some of the comments but Sedge somehow we know when money is well spent you don’t have to have every expensive tool but but what works in your craft is what counts! Love it keep up the great videos and always thanks for sharing!

I have the woodpeckers delve squares I was going to use for layouts. Problem is all I do is break pencil lead (with the supplied pencil in the square case) the whole time. I tried using other pencils but, the holes in the square don't allow for it. Way too sensitive for my skill level I reckon. Those things were pricey and I can't use em. Seems you fly right down the boards with that saddle square. How no breaky pencil lead?

I’ve really like using my marking gauge instead of those pocket rules. In order to make it easy to see I run my pencil in the cut line. I bought the titemark from the lie Nielsen site. Love it!

Hey Sedge, iv'e been watching your videos for a couple years now and really appreciate the education. I'm about to take on a huge closet shelving build and wanted to pick your brain on how to go about incorporating screw stretchers on the walls with an open back. I watched the video on the connector system you did (great vid btw) would you just use a couple of dominos to tie in the stretchers (screw strip) to the back of the vertical panels?? If so how would you gauge the 18-19MM offset bc of the horizontal panel? I'm trying to sharpen my brain lol. Again thanks for all of the education. 25 years as a trim/finish carpenter and I'm feeling like i need to catch up haha.

I love my sashigane, a Japanese carpenters square made of spring steel that has mm, 1/10th and 1/16th inches, 4" depth guage, and a root-2 ruler for miters. Some also have a pi-ruler for getting circumferences from diameters instantly. There is a ton to it, from the special profile to tricks with the root-2 ruler, and I feel wicked smaaht when I use it, haha! It's basically a geometric calculator.

El Cheepo here, great tips Sedge. I use my Rockler offset/center finding jig for finding dead center the few time I need it. Since I'm using mostly plywood or wood under 2" wide, it works great. For a lot of work, I have a small Milwaukee Carpenter's square that has an off set base of 1/4" & 3/8'. It's great for laying out brad or screw lines quickly on the edge or end of plywood. For longer lines I keep my TSO Rail square on a shorter pieces of track from my track saw kit. I also keep a metric saddle square in my LR32 kit as well. And no work gets done in the shop without my trusty FastCap "Yellow" 16' tape measure near by. The "Other" Warren from Caldwell Idaho.

I've got the Woodpeckers's Saddle squares and the Bridge City center finder tool. Both are excellent tools. The saddle squares really shine when using a marking knife. The center finder is nice because, unlike a lot of other center finders, this one has a much wider opening for thicker pieces of wood. Great recommendations Sedge.
