Hey John, Love your channel, training and tips. Just a quick thing on chicken eggs. A common misconception is that happy chickens make a nicer yolk, however as someone who formulates diets for chickens who lay eggs on a commercial scale I can tell you that yolk colour is determined by the inclusion of a dye into the diet which colours the eggs to the market's demand. Therefore chicken egg yolk colour is not related to anything more than how much dye was included, as farmers know that customers like nice coloured yolks.

I have always ate a lot of whole eggs for years. The one brand that is exceptional quality is Vital Farms. People think organic eggs is expensive but when you consider how much it costs to go eat, then paying 5.99 for a carton is cheap. That is the price here in Cali at least. Like John said, the yolks in the better quality are super dark even orange at times. They taste rich beyond comparison to lower quality eggs.

One thing thats very important to note that wasn't mentioned in this video is antioxidants (like in dark chocolate) consumed pre or post workout can reduce acute inflammation - something that is caused in response to training and is necessary for the response letting your brain know it needs to rebuild the damaged muscle cells back bigger and stronger. You can seriously impede your progress in terms of muscle hypertrophy by consuming anything that reduces acute inflammation pre or post training. It is for this reason taking ibutamoren or paracetamol is discouraged pre training.

Eggs from the store started hurting my stomach for hours after I'd eat them . Like someone punched me in the gut. This started when I was about 32 years old ( I'm almost 39 now) I've heard it's pretty common for people over 30 to suddenly have this issue.. I started buying organic and/or free-range and that cleared the issue for a while , but as the "organic" trend started to grow that has become hit or miss. Fresh eggs don't give me an issue. There is a clear difference. I think part of the problem is that people swap eggs around in the store ( when one is cracked etc.) They could be sitting in the store for a while before you buy them. Then they sit in your fridge for a while sometimes before you eat them too.

On the subject of Egg labeling. Pasture-Raised is the official term for the highest quality living conditions in the USA. It's Pasture-Raised > Free Range > Cage-Free > Caged. Organic is a separate additional thing farmers can do as well and will be stated on the box, but organic eggs are generally free range at best. @@mattnicholson wow In germany organic eggs are like 3 dollars (2,50€) . normal non organic eggs about 2 dollars and they are both good. I always ate normal eggs with potatoes when i didnt have any money and got by on like 20 bucks a week.

Matt Nicholson are you allowed to own chickens? They are really inexpensive here. Just raise them and get fresh laid eggs each morning :)
@bigbaba14914 жыл бұрын
@@mrsloth_8820 i think everybody is allowed to have chicken, ducks, rabbits, pigeons er cetera. Your land lord might have a say, but not the gouvernment. Maybe if you treat them real bad they come after you for animal cruelty

He's right about free range chickens. I have some that are free to come and go, they have darker yolks and sometimes double yolks! Bueatiful brown shells

Great video 👍! I incorporate every one of those on your list. Although I find organic Scottish salmon pretty good.

I find that feeding the chickens a lot of fruit and (especially green) vegetable scraps helps get that magnificent orange/red Yolk.
