Special Mention to the Suzuki Tu250x, when I was taking my msf course they had those for the most part, they also had ktm duke 200s. I picked a duke 200 but I had a lot of trouble not stalling the thing so the instructors had me switch out to a TU250X and everything just clicked for me. It almost doesn't need throttle to move just slowly drop the clutch and itll move. Which really helped me learn how to control the clutch first and then later I can learn throttle.

Those were at my MSF course too. A whole bunch of them. That and a handful of Groms. I took the course the first time on the Grom, although fun I was in too much pain by the next day from its aggressive posture.(I have a bad back). Next time was on the Tu250 and it was a breeze. Loved how it felt like a snuff can getting packed from its single cylinder. lol. That when I realized I like standards more than sport bikes.

So I just thought I'd throw my recent beginner bike experiences out there. A friend of mine, unbeknownst to me, decided he was going to get into motorcycling and never said a word to me. He is an Amazon shopper. I mean he buys pretty much everything but groceries there. A motorcycle purchase was no different. He got one of their 250cc/12hp sport bikes. He was very proud of it until he decided he wanted to go riding with me and another friend of ours. Needless to say, he couldn't keep up and he topped out at 75mph. He is currently shopping for something larger lol. On a positive note, I just picked up a ninja 400 for my son for his first bike. Never seen the kid so excited for something in his life. Very much looking forward to the years ahead riding together.

I spent all of last year and most of this year obsessing over the Vulcan S, dead set on getting it. Yams dunking on it didn't really change my opinion of it, but when RE announced the Meteor 650, I looked back into the Meteor 350, and actually ended up ordering one about a month ago. Stellar red. First ever brand new motorcycle, and I'm really excited! Seeing Yam aknowledge it on his channel as the most beginner friendly motorcycle is a really nice change for me

Ive had a lot of bikes of all different types... My little dual sport classic parallel twin Honda CB 250 is the bike i ride around the most and its so much fun. On off road dont matter its all fun. SO the best bike you can get is the cheapest bike you can possibly get your hands on make it ride worthy and safe than GET OUT THERE FOO!

Thanks for this! Like ur channel. Subscribed. Been riding a 900 for many years (still learning every day) and recently bought a gsx250r to commute to work. WHY?? 75mpg, goes 85mph (I typically don’t like to go faster than 75 on the highway and tickets are no fun), wanted the heavier weight bike as is really windy here often and the weight gives it more highway stability, also - ABS, price was right, and last, it’s the coolest looking scooter you can buy! I am having so much fun on this thing! I also have to admit that I appreciate how much more of a safe/sane rider I am on this bike compared to my other one. Mostly due to the limitations of the gsx250r, but still, there’s a lesson for me there I think.

Instead of the meteor I’d recommend the classic 350. It just adds a bit of class to the platform. Also it’s a tank on a dirt road, just add better rubber like a set of Avon’s 80-20’s

i still find it crazy how other country's are able to ride any bike from the start where as where i am in the UK we have to start on a 125cc i rode a 125 for 6 years had a Honda cm, Keeway superlight and a Yamaha yzf r125 finally upgraded this year to a GSXR 750 after passing my full bike test

I think the Nighthawk 250 is the better version of the CB250. More upright stature, slightly higher , 29.5" seat-height and simpler styling (not a pseudo-cruiser just a smol standard) and some markets got disc brakes. Its also about 20 pounds lighter, depending on year. But I think I see Rebels a little more.

A 1973 CBS 350 worked really well for me. It was red white and blue originally, but mostly rust. The best thing about it was that it was free. I had ridden a 1966 Sears (puch) 100 street bike off road for a while before it.

I had a 1978 Yamaha XS250 as my first bike. Crossply tyres and terrible suspension made it more scary than the Honda VF500 I replaced it with. The VF was great apart for cams made of cheese and a fairly soft cheese at that

Best bike to learn on? Yamaha GT80. Learn to use a clutch and shift and lean into turns .and ride height is super low

In india duke 200 is like a ninja 400 and duke 390 is like a r7 (it's what it is like in India and most of the normal bikes sold in india have less power grom - hero splender has less than 10hp and gets more than 80 km/l (190 miles per gallon)

Where I took my MSF course, they just got an MT-03, but that on/off throttle makes it a terrible bike for a lot of what they're trying to teach.

RE's Hunter 350 is the better beginner friendly motorbike. Meteor is too heavy for a lot of people and isn't flickable enough and so, enter the Hunter.

Most of the 250-300cc street motorcycles are just too heavy for the power they produce. The only exception I know of is the CB300R.

​@@Lemmon714_They don't really. European roads are narrower and slower and you can get on two wheels at 15. Noone needs or can afford anymore that 35kW anyway. The only thing that sucks is that the training for the exam is so expensive. But I guess that makes sure that only people who really want to ride motorcycles save up money and take it and not some stupid meathead macho squids only trying to brag that could hurt pedestrians, cyclists, rollerbladers, rollerskaters, skaters, you get it. All the human-powered vulnerable members of traffic.

@16driver16 engine is vtwin with a bit more character and torque. It's slightly bigger yet a few pounds lighter. And looks less like a dork mobile and more like a traditional cruiser.

@@derekgamache6294 so the engine costs twice as much to repair and a little more to maintenance(twice the cylinders, valves etc)... its better for taller riders, and looks better. I think those even each other out... I'd say it's just as good

Indian KTMs are VERY CHEAP I own a 2017 duke 390. AUSTRIAN KTMs are expensive

There's some 250-500cc bikes that are awesome fun. KTM Duke 390 is a wicked little thing. On a small bike you'll learn a lot about being smooth and holding corner speed.
