In this video, we tell you our top seven reasons why we chose a 2001 Safari Trek 2830, class A motorhome. We had considered a trailer and fifth wheel but ended up with a class A. Stay tuned for bloopers at the end!

Glad to here about your Safari. I wondered about that bed. The layout is smart without slide outs. I am 6’4” and that has me researching class A’s. The length of 29’ is longer than I would prefer but Safari has them all the way down to 24’. Seems as though storage is plentiful may be able to live with less like a 26”. But that extra space must be nice as well not feeling crammed. The capacities give great boon docking time away. The artwork on the back gives each owners rig a personality. I love that. Thank you your experience is much appreciated.

Cool, David! Glad we could give you some useful information. We love our Safari Trek. The 2830 model is doing well and we feel we made a good choice still.

I like that you found a RV that really works for you, this is hands down the model I like the best for all the reasons you do. What is really the most compelling part of this video is the level of admiration and respect you have for each other. It's not every day that two people find their best friend in each other amongst all the people on this planet but you two are lucky.

@@SeeMyHappiness I did not, we are on the east coast in Savannah Georgia. I love what you did. With the solar power. Hopefully we bump into each other sometime, I would like to pick your brain about how you ran your solar.

Michael, we just put out a video on how we installed the battery monitor. It basically shows the route from over the doorway to the batteries underneath the steps. I hope that helps. Next week we cover how we attached the panels and how we ran the power from them to the solar charge controller. Please consider subscribing if you haven’t already so you don’t miss that one.

@@SeeMyHappiness I subscribed, I am looking forward to see how you ran the panels. I would like to just improve my stock solar panel with something more modern. The original one has deteriorated and no longer works due to sun damage.

Hi! I've just found your youtube channel and am enjoying watching them! I have recently been very intrigued by the classic Safari Trek motorhome line. I don't currently own a motorhome, but hope to purchase one when I retire from teaching in a year. I wonder how you feel about your Safari Trek now that you've owned it a while. Would you recommend that make and model motorhome for a first-time newbie? My wife and I hope to be fulltime rvers for a season- how long is yet to be determined! I"d love to hear back from you! Thanks again for your videos! Rick

Thanks, Rick! We still love our Trek. We had it for about two years now and have been living in it full time for 1 1/2 years. We are glad we got the bigger Trek, 2830. I believe the smaller one, the 2430, would have been too small. So far we have not had any trouble getting into state or national parks. I highly recommend the Safari Trek as a first RV. You won’t spend a crap ton of money to get on the road. Just be sure you get it inspected to make sure there aren’t any expensive surprises after you buy it. If you haven’t already found it, there’s a Facebook group for Safari Treks. They are several for sale on there as I write. Good luck! 👍🏼🍀

See My Happiness thanks for your quick reply! Yup- I think the extra 4’ in the 28’ would be well enjoyed! And yes- great wisdom on having a professional inspection done on possible purchases! Take care.

I love my Trek for all the same reasons, but Ive had a real tough time with the mattress thickness issue. Currently I use a queen air mattress with a memory foam topper so it all fits in the limited space of the magic bed compartment when stored in the ceiling, its pretty comfortable'ish...but inflating it every night gets old. What are you two using, and how do you like it?? Great video, glad to see more life in the online Trek community! Thanks!!
@SeeMyHappiness

Another Trek owner (high five!). Yes. we replaced the mattress. Check Amazon. We got a very comfortable mattress for $160 or so. We are reallly happy with it. We've been using it now for two years.
@churchdc

High five back!! Did you guys just go full thickness and sacrifice the headroom or did you find a 4" thick mattress you like? Oh, and great job on the woodwork! Thanks! @@SeeMyHappiness

Yeah we went 6 inches and sacrificed the head room. Neither my husband or I are very tall so it didn’t matter. I will pass the “good job” onto my husband. He did a fantastic job!! 😊
