@JKItsMeAlGore I would say, and others feel free to comment please, I feel it's best to keep the arms in an arc, reduce the weight, and drive with the extreme outside/pinky edge of your palms. Once you feel it more in the rear delts, you're probably on to something :)

John -- Thank you for being my online trainer during the pandemic lockdown -- these videos were and still are so important to my fundamental understanding of weight training. Your every-man approach to teaching was never snarky, never condescending, and always informative. I hope that you somehow know that every time I load my barbell into the landmine, your name lives on when I decide to do my Meadows Rows. I still can't believe you won't be showing up with new tips. RIP. And PS -- the yoyo tricks were such an unexpected and entertaining break during the videos.

Hey, do you use full range as well or just partials ?
@reneluchtenberg86103 жыл бұрын
@@cesarcandanozah7150 i use both variation. With these trick you can really overload your side shoulder. And don't rush through that exercise. Leave the tension on your muscle during the whole exercise. Move relative slowly and keep going when it starts to burn. I don't regret it.
@cesarcandanozah71503 жыл бұрын
@@reneluchtenberg8610 thanks for your reply René ! One more question if you don’t mind. Do you use partials first or after doing the full range of motion laterals ? I’m having doubts on structuring my shoulder day
@reneluchtenberg86103 жыл бұрын
@@cesarcandanozah7150 you´re welcome. I would recommend to choose an exercise which feels very intens for you. I cannot look into your mind and can say which is good or bad for you. But after a ´´warming´´ excercise i use these heavy side laterial raises to overload my muscle. All the time i did side laterials, i use to much momentum. With these you can do it also but if you reduce you speed you will feeld this at your 5 or 6 rep. And than the fun begins. To tell a long story short: Use one exercise to warm you up and than you can use the heavy dumbell raises as your ´´first´´ exercise. I did it and don´t regret it. And when you ´re done with these exercse you can do several other things like V-Pulls with the dumbells as a superset. Don´t do to many things. 3-4 exercises für your whole shoulder should be enough. Feel your muscle working. If not, change your position (angle) or even your exercise. Not every exercise is working for erveryone. Hear what your body tell you during the movement. And if you do not get any pump, then went something wrong. all the best

One of my favorites is a Mike Mentzer inspired "superset" for mid delts. It's first ordinary dumbbell raises to failure, however you like to do them, going into a Smith machine overhead press (he did behind the neck, but I skip the risky lower part and only let the bar touch the top back of my head, where my shoulders feel good), which is subsequently done to proper failure. This lets you train the the entire ROM for mid delts, giving you two sets and two exercises for the price of one. It burns and feels amazing. For those who love high intensity techniques, like I do, this also lets you go very safely to failure, and when the positive is done, you can squat the Smith machine bar up and even do a slow negative or two, where I lower it all the way down in front of me.

I like to rotate the heavy dumbbell swings into my training. When you're finished with a set of those, it's much like the old trick where you try to raise your hands inside a doorway as hard as you can and then when you step out your arms raised by themselves.
