After going mad with printed cottons and summer dresses, I'm now realising what I reach for every chilly morning, which is usually a jersey skater dress made with the TATB Agnes, or my super comfy Coco top. They're just so easy to wear, no ironing required and really quick to make too 😊
@Sewn7 жыл бұрын
Jersey dresses are the best! I just love them. Anything which doesn't need ironing is okay me!

Hi Rosa, I love your list :) a few different ideas that are perfect for everyday wear. I try to make things I can wear regularly too. I love wearing things that I've made, even if they're not quite perfect. It just makes me a smile. I was surprised to see the coat on you lost but I could really do with something like that. You've made me feel a bit braver about trying it. :)
@Sewn7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I agree, making homemade everyday always makes me smile. I hope you try the coat, or a similar one, it's such a brilliant simple shape but it's so wearable. x

I love the coat! I am still daunted by big 4 pattern companies and their sizes. I tried to make a sheath dress once and it was sooo baggy although I chose the right size for measurements. could you do a video one day telling us how u do your sizing? All your big 4 makes look amazing!
@Sewn7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I actually just choose my RTW size, which is UK 10. My measurements don't always match exactly but like you say they are cut with masses of ease.

I was just thinking that I wanted more (mock)/turtlenecks for winter and I'm hoping to sew a polka dot patterned one next year. The Paola top looks exactly like what I was looking for - so thank you for sharing! Definitely checking out your tutorial to make it. Also - I love the pink velvet skirt you've made - I don't think I'm ready for sewing with velvet anytime soon, but something to look forward to in the future.

A polka dot version is such an adorable idea! Cotton velvet is super easy to work with as it doesn't have much drape and is very similar to working with corduroy or stiff cotton. x

I did find this video so helpful AND inspiring :) I think you're so right that it's important to evaluate what you've made that you wear a lot because that's what you need more of. I find myself reaching for my Toaster Sweater in a soft french terry already a LOT and now I'm making up a Barcelona Top by the Sewing Workshop which I suspect will go into a regular rotation in my wardrobe as well. After a few knits tops though I always find I'm left craving for something interesting in a woven so I'm already eyeing the Helena by Sew Me Something (I have the pattern).
@Sewn7 жыл бұрын
I just looked at the Helena dress as I hadn't seen it before and its lovely! I imagine it would be perfect for winter layered over trousers or leggings and a polo neck. I agree I like a mixture of jersey and woven projects.

That coat pattern is lovely but I don't think I have ever owned a coat here , except for a trench coat I had once, even tho this Winter was cold ! We have just had 3 days over 95 degrees here ( although tonight I have the heater on !!) so I am desperately trying to make some cool tops as I only had two left after I culled at the end of last Summer.

I wouldn't mind not having to wear a coat lol!

Thank you for the video! I’ve made 2 Cleos for this autumn and one more cut out waiting. It’s like my new casual uniform! I really liked that striped jersey fabric and would love to have a go with it - perhaps the thicker winter jersey won’t be too horrific to sew?
@Sewn7 жыл бұрын
Thicker jerseys like Ponte are super easy to work with. Just use a zigzag stitch on your sewing machine- I am a big fan! x

Love your videos. You are so lovely and make the cutest clolthes. Love, love, love the pink skirt and the stripped short top you wear with the skirt. Enjoy wearing cute, hip, youngish styles while you are in your 20's. Wish I had a body to wear those things.

A quick question: when you made your stripy sweatshirt, did you wash the fabric several times before? Tilly from Tilly and the buttons made her coco pattern from a sweatshirt fabric and it shrunk so luch she had to change it from a dress to a top. I love that stripy top of yours, the fabric is so you, especially with the pink skirt :)
@Sewn7 жыл бұрын
Hi! No I actually didn't, I don't tend to find pontes shrink. I always prewash my fabrics once.

I love that jacket, and the overalls.😊 I've always loved wearing overalls, but I'm wondering if age 40 is to old to wear overalls. I don't look my age, but I also don't want people looking at me like, she's too old to be wearing those, does she think she's a teenager or something? 😕
@Sewn7 жыл бұрын
My mum is older than you and looks amazing in dungarees! I think if you style them right there is no age limit- plus they are too comfy to pass up! x
