I totally agree. I've been trying to start running for years with no luck. I got the crossropes and I look forward to jumping. Jumping rope, with good ropes is a much more fulfilling way to get in better shape! I jumped a little this morning, but tonight after it cools down, I plan to hit it kind of hard. Right now, I'm just trying to build myself up and get into the groove of jumping. Great ropes make All the difference.

@batlin7 жыл бұрын
Reducing jump height made a huge difference for me -- I started to get a good rhythm going with a lower jump recently and it feels almost like floating in comparison to the high impact clumsy flailing I had when jumping higher before. When you're doing high bounces all the time, not only does it cause more stress on your joints, but it increases the time when your feet are hanging in the air and makes it harder to control your timing. I'm still skimming my soles when bouncing low, but it feels a lot better.
@JumpRopeDudes7 жыл бұрын
good stuff ! all about being low to the ground
@alisonjackson7129 Жыл бұрын
I just started and realise now that I'm jumping too high. Trying to get lower but then the rope hits my feet. I'll persevere!
@batlin Жыл бұрын
@@alisonjackson7129 the rope might also be too long -- check if it's hitting the ground far in front of your feet, since that makes it drag and bounce up, instead of skimming under your feet. If you're using a Crossrope, they tend to be oversized so people usually order one or two sizes smaller.

i think the number one common mistake when jumping rope is what you're jumping on. You need to jump on a softer surface or a surface that has give like wood or a rubber mat. many people start jumping rope on a concrete sidewalk and that's a huge mistake. A lot of injuries can occur from this. I've had shin splints and jumper's knee a numerous amount of times from not knowing my mistake.

Great video. I am a PE teacher and I have corrected kids countless times on these same issues. One thing you should add is the importance of a proper size of the jump rope. If it is too long or too short it can make the jumping harder. Stand on middle of the rope with two feet together and bring the handles up. The handles should reach shoulder length. Also, I would love to share a video with my elementary students, and would request the jumper have a shirt on. I don't care but my kids will spend more time giggling at the bouncing pects. than paying attention. (Although, some of the mother's may not mind. Ha Ha.)

JustnwiN - just do 3. rest then do 3 more. Do this until you can do 4, then 5 and keep going! It takes time but you are in the right place. Follow our tutorials and practice!

Would you recommend jumping rope before or after weightlifting? I always warm up on the treadmill or elliptical before starting with the weights.

Thanks for the great tips. I started jumping about a year ago. Encountered the problem of jumping to high and also tripping on my rope. How to hold the rope never crossed my mind. I'm headed to the gym now to try out some of the tips you suggested.

I don't understand what you are saying regarding the wrist positioning for step 3. are you talking about wrist positioning normally or just when crossing for the kriss cross??
