@@carmadme What I do know is that James and Richard would’ve tried their hand at trying to improve bus transport their own way by buying a double decker bus and fitting it with modifications and devices such as a pair of scissors that would cut a headphone user’s headphone wires for playing their music too loudly, a roller blind with a picture of a beach on it on the front window on the top floor of the bus, a can of deodorant used for banishing bad smells, and an entertainment system (a tiny slot car track attached to the bus’ top ceiling). Ultimately, the modifications ended up being so bad the slot car track dropped through the ceiling, which caused Hammond and May to laugh at how bad their mistakes were lol and thus, the segment was never televised anywhere.

The immobilizer is part of the ford factory system. It's working as designed. Someone forgot to click the it's in Europe button at their computer.

Ruined by an ill-matched alarm, forced on him by the insurance company……. He then trashed Ford, trashed Roush, but not the alarm or the installation. I understand Clarkson had to climb down and apologise……. Ford took the car back and I believe Clarkson bought it again - as he seriously loved it and knew there was nothing wrong with it 🙂

@@snailsaredumb9412 there was never an issue with the car……. I saw it during this time standing in Roush workshops, waiting on the alarm engineer from Italy(?) We only ever dealt with one other back then, a black one owned by a drivers club, owned by a former World Champion F1 driver……. this one, which had a hard life, had junked the gearbox/clutch or both

It was the alarm and immobiliser which was wired incorrectly. Generally, it was a reliable car.

@@gavinwyllie7855 It also had to be recalled for bad control arms that could break at any moment and also the crankshaft would leak oil. Ford's remedy for the oil leak was to put a speedisleeve over it. It was not a reliable car. Electrical issues, suspension, and engine issues. Also there is a battery drain issue that was never resolved, owners just got a portable jump starter.

@@markanders250 yeah lets just put the label of "not a reliable car period" on it just because of early production run defects that could be addressed later on (which happens to a fair amount of cars), with that logic that makes even most toyotas "unreliable", the issues are real but that just reads like youre a sour puss that hates fords.

clarkson NEVER owned a gt40- he doesn't fit, and probably doesn't have the £10M+ needed to purchase one; instead, he bought a 2005 ford gt ( the gt40 moniker is owned by a kit car company!)

I like Tiff Needell, but I saw a video with him claiming to be priveleged to drive the original Jaguar D type that was involved in the most catastrophic racing disaster in motor racing history, The 1955 Le-Mans, where 84 people died and 200 were injured, some seriously ! the claim he makes is completely false, because Jaguar dismantled the original car and it was not ever reassembled, I think it is in very bad taste indeed that ( knowing the history of the car ) he should, 1 affirm that it was a privilege to drive it and 2 not to have taken the time to verify from Jaguar Cars the authenticity , "or more importantly" "lack of" Authenticity ! I find this really Very negligent and distasteful conduct and behaviour from Tiff Needell.
