For someone who isn’t ever interested in military, patriotic kind of films. I enjoyed this movie a great amount, I’ve only seen the first 15 minutes of the first film but i understand it’s significance. I appreciated the story, the performances, and the scenes in the fighter aircraft. I think the movie has legs because it doesn’t hammer down too much of anything really, there’s a story surrounded around the military stuff, but the focus is the story, and of course there’s enough military, patriotic inklings for the more conservative crowd

This film is killing it at the box office for two major reasons. The first being that word of mouth is spreading like wildfire so everyone is taking their friends to go see it in their family to go see it after they see it. Which is exactly what I did with my dad as part of his Father’s Day present and I don’t think I’ve seen him that excited about a movie and six years. And the second there is just no competition that is coming close to what this film offers. We’ve got another JW film and don’t get me wrong I loved Jurassic World, and then we’ve got comic book movies galore which happens every year and frankly I think me as well as the rest of the audience is getting tired of comic book films we needed something different, and somehow or another top gun two the Little film that could did and not only did it climb up the hill but once it reached the top it shot up into the sky like a bat out of hell. So I don’t think it’s going to have any problem reaching the billion dollar mark.

Its really simple actually. People are rewatching it because its a ride. You experience the speed and rumble of flying in a jet. Its an experience. I think a fair point to make about both Top Gun: Maverick and Spider Man No Way Home is that both were movies that weren't going to have a 45 day window before hitting streaming, which would bring back repeat viewers who knew they would have a longer wait to watch it again at home. I think Top Gun will probably perform better than Love and Thunder and Wakanda Forever as that Disney+ window is going to cap their box office. This movie is doing great because it doesn’t have any forced messaging behind it. People go to the movies to escape reality, not to be reminded how horrible the world really is. For the past like 15 to 20 years Hollywood has had a hard on for making movies that preach to the audience, it was artistic and unique 15 years ago when they first started doing it… but now it’s overdone, eye rolling, and condescending with how often movies do it. Even children’s movies do it for f**ks sake. Maverick doesn’t try to tell middle class America that they’re horrible people and remind them that their lives are miserable. It just wants to tell a good story with a good ending, and it does an amazing job at it.

TGM is a lock to hit $1 billion. If you compare it to Black Panther (a movie making similar amounts per day at this point in release), it's likely going to make the $100 million needed just domestically alone. That also depends on when it is released on streaming, and of course Paramount would be wise to hold off as long as possible. I'd say $1.1 - 1.2 billion is likely. ~$600 million domestically, $500+ million internationally.

IT JUST FREAKING HIT A BILLION and will continue its smooth sailing momentum till Thor love and thunder! @nikitamohanan21242 жыл бұрын
@@joeybaseball7352 Top gun maverick wouldn't have made a billion dollars if it was mediocre and I don't think Jurassic World Dominion will, which for me was the worst of the franchise and I wish I just waited for it to come on streaming cuz it was SO NOT WORTH IT! Bullet Train is coming out on August 5 from the same director as the first john Wick (still my favorite one from that franchise) and Deadpool 2 and it's based on a Japanese novel which the vast majority of the audience has not read so the movie is kind of original to the cast majority of the public. Free Guy did pretty well too last year and was non IP. If it had released this year might have done even better. Bullet train on the other hand could be a very big hit if it's entertaining and executed well and it looks very vibrant with some slick action scenes sprinkled with some comedy and fun so it could be a surprise blockbuster too. Also, the Barbie movie next year could be the Top Gun Maverick of 2023 in terms of box office success. Of course how well it does depends on how good it is but Simu Liu told British GQ the reason he said yes to Barbie is because his agent pushed him to do it saying he would "stake his career on the Barbie script and it's one of the best scripts he's ever read". So I have high Hope's for that one. Hopefully Jordan Peele's Nope is actually impressive and does well so we get more original IP horror films.

It'll easily pass Doctor Strange. Doctor Strange is for all intents and purposes finished, especially now that its on Disney+, whereas Maverick still has a lot of time in theaters.

I see it crossing the billion dollar mark in a month or so. People enjoy this film for the practical stunts, straightforward story line and absence of political messages. Pure escapism

Had Top Gun 2 come out in 1996,it would have been blasted for being "political" Women had just been allowed to fly combat jets in the 90s and I'm sure people would have regarded seeing a female pilot as hood as her male peers as "pushing a political message" The movie is full of racial and gender integration which would have triggered people 30 years ago. When people say TG2 is "not woke" what they really mean is the movie has no openly LGBTQ characters.

With the introduction of programs such as AMC A-List, which allows customers to view (3) movies per week on any format for a set price per month, viewers who have a favorite or special movie that they just want to see over and over again, can with that perk program. I myself saw Top Gun Maverick (5) times through the AMC A-List, and can say that with Lightyear being too woke for me, and no other movie capturing my attention till Thor, I'll probably see Top Gun Maverick again, as it makes for great re-watching! This will help movies in the repeat viewing categories, which will increase box office for well crafted movies like Top Gun Maverick.

My fear is that any stand-alone 80's movie will now get sequels or prequels because TGM did so well.
