Tom Cruise apparently negotiates a lot of control over script and story in his contract, for better or worse **cough** The Mummy, and I think he’s a producer so yeah, he probably had a big role in the overall production and direction of this movie.

Tom is known for being someone who wants control of what he does and what happens. This is his most important roles of his career and the last thing he'd want is a sequel to his most famous work to be ruined by someone.

@@mariaferodigue I dunno she had a creepy feel that I'm sure extends to her other roles? You are correct, the love interest was pointless to the story. It would have been much more believable if Mav had 2 separate scenes with girls in late 20's
@CarSVernon
@CarSVernon Жыл бұрын
@@mariaferodigue i dont think her character is superficial. they showed them as two older single people trying to get back in the game slowly and being a bit awkward about it, talking thru their problems with one another, and helping humanize him and have him retire at the end. without her his arc would not be shown as complete with a likely retirement. they even gave her a scene where she was in her element (sailing) instead of just always on his turf. it's like people have a knee jerk reaction nowadays to complain about 1. blockbusters 2. love interests and 3. main characters not being pointlessly killed off. also lol at the guy wanting him with girls in their late 20s. go watch the mummy then, this movie isnt for you.

Indeed, and it made some honor to the enemy as well. SU57 pilots were also portrayed as highly capable in a highly capable jet. And what stroke me the most was that in the F14, the rear ejection seat was not working, the front one probably was the same. Imagine that Mav and rooster didn't know this, but the pilots of Iran expected to fly this would have known they are flying in a coffin with no way out....best all around movie for a long time now....

TOP GUN (1986) was my first "up-close and personal," experience for me and unfortunately with the handicap I was born with, I'm not allowed to join the Military or participate in any type of event like this. 30 years later, TOP GUN: Maverick brought it all back! The excitement, the energy, the adventure, the realism and the list goes on. For a lot of us, there's nostalgia and memories. Tom Cruise, Bruckheimer and the rest of the production team did it! All the actors and actresses made the magic happen!!! Thank you all for bringing it all back!!! Sequels are never this BADASS!!!

Isn't it amazing that an actor can come back 35 years later and do a sequel to his own classic, action-packed movie ? In the past, could an actor make a movie in the 30s and realistically expect to do a sequel in the 60s ? Or do an original movie in the 40s, and do it again in the 70s or even 80s ?? Unthinkable ! Could Errol Flynn reprise his 1938 role as Robin Hood in the late 60s or early 70s ??? No, because he passed away in 1959. Hats off to Tom Cruise.

Have you ever talked to one about their lifestyle? Squadron P.R. Officer asked me to park my fresh off the showroom floor, torch red, Corvette convertible, with DEBBIE on my vanity plate, right next to their F-15C's for the airshow. The young Eagle drivers wanted a chance to try it out around the lake while the public ogled their, in their words, old worn out 70's airplanes. Base Commander nixed the idea, but they certainly loved posing next to it with the F-15's in the background. The grass is always greener fellas!

THIS MOVIE WAS NOTHING SHORT OF SPECTACULAR. IT WAS AMAZING, BEYOND AMAZING. IT WAS PURE MAGIC. I LAUGHED, I CRIED AND WAS ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT WITH MY HEART POUNDING THE ENTIRE TIME WHILE REMINISCING WATCHING THE ORIGINAL WITH MY FATHER THAT IS NO LONGER WITH ME. AN ABSOLUTELY EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER RIDE THE ENITRE TIME ALL WHILE PAYING HOMAGE TO THE ORIGINAL WHICH WAS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE TO THIS DAY. GIVE TOM CRUISE AND VAL KILMER THERE FLOWERS WHILE THEY ARE STILL HERE. TOP GUN RAISED THE BAR IN 1986 AND TOP GUN MAVERICK RAISED THE BAR AGAIN. THANK YOU

Watched it because it's TOM CRUISE. HE CRUISES and we CAN HANDLE THE TRUTH because he does his own stunts. This man is a gentleman, ages so well. Many more years of movie-making by him. Credit to his co stars, etc.

This was such a fun movie. Having rewatched the first one before seeing this one opening night, I honestly think there's no contest here. This newest one was much much better than the first one. The story went to places I wasn't necessarily expecting and the action/visuals were just absolutely incredible to see on the big screen. Fun for everyone

I am so proud of the Navy and Marine Corps Pilots. Damn, they are wonderful. Glad they are on our team. God Bless them all even the one I met in Key West wearing an atheist batch on his fight suit. Air Force Clown. Retire AF E-8 Senior MSGT made him remove it. Not part of the uniform.

Ha ha! Using twin seater F18s and making it look like the actors were in single seaters. I actually guessed they did that because I’m a jet nerd from way back and knew F18s came as two-seaters too.

Just saw this last night for the 2nd time in IMAX, the flight scenes are even MORE intense, and upon second viewing my belief that the original will always be my favorite still stands which makes the sequel a sweet nostalgic fly-by "memory lane". But that said...the flight scenes in this are 1000x better! My lord that Darkstar prototype (the real thing actually built by Lockheed Martin) is the SR-17 Blackbird on steroids. The crowd reacted to the same scenes as the crowd did in the original. Movie was spot-on. But the other "character" in this movie is America's Finest City.....San Diego. I lived there for 2yrs and it's exactly how it looks. It's the garden of Eden. To live in "Fightertown USA", going to the MIRAMAR airshow on the original Miramar Air Station in Miramar San Diego is amazing. It's now run by the Marine Corp. Going to Coronado Island, going on deck of the retired USS Midway aircraft carrier (used in the original) in downtown SD, going to the KC BBQ bar/restaurant where they filmed the piano scene in the original, seeing "Charlie's" house in Oceanside, is to live in Top Gun nirvana. When I do eventually retire, I will move back to SoCal and head to SD. Thank you Tom Cruise for making a beautiful sequel to Top Gun and bringing nostalgia and happy emotions back to us all after what we've been through these past 3yrs of pandemic hell. Will definitely buy it on Blu-ray....and may see it a 3rd time in IMAX. Rare for me to PAY 3x for a movie. Top Gun, Inception, Star Wars are the exceptions.

The opening was IMO the worst part of the film. Don't get me wrong - it's a masterpiece - but they should have taken the effort to try and make it even more authentic instead of plain copying it.
