Thanks for the video Kyle. I've been jumping for a year, and these "beginner basics" are still really useful. I like that your videos are short, and to the point! They don't waste my time!

Yes Kyle. Very good Basic jump rope tutorial. As you mentioned form and technique is very important in addition to sizing the rope. Thanks Kyle. Patience and mindset is very important as it's not only a physical workout but it involves the mind coordination when you pass the rope down the feet.

Many thanks Kyle this really helps. Like Michael I’m also an older guy just started using a rope to stay in shape. Glad to hear I’m not the only one who has days when nothing works . Also as you say making a video of yourself can really help. Did this recently and found that I had let’s call it a “lazy left hand” - my right wrist was doing most of the turning, my left was just taking it easy - this explained a lot - so fully recommend taking a video of yourself when your are starting. Keep the vids coming please.

Loved this video, Kyle. Very encouraging and one of my favourites of your entire collection. During the peak of COVID summer 2020 I invested in a complete set of Crossropes, mat etc. Was enjoying it but like you mentioned, on a certain morning after a few minutes, had to stop re shin splints. Stopped for weeks and had to get physio for about a month, and admit that I haven’t touched my ropes since. I’ve now returned to watching your videos, which you put so much positive energy and encouragement into, and I’m inspired again to get back on track. Thanks again, and come the day we live in a safer COVID free world, if you’ve ever considered it, I for one would be very interested in travelling to and participating in any kind of workshop you may offer. All the best! A big fan, John in Vancouver BC Canada :)

He is isn't wrong folks even when trying a new move take a break if you are in the gym for 15 min or so if you are maybe doing an hour session keep watching videos re think it you will do better. Hell I get better everyday It's like my muscle memory takes over and it starts to be clear I try not to get frustrated with myself I think about how much more fluid I will be when I get the movement and jumps down. Make sure to jump in the gym or use a matt to really protect your joints and muscles I have a gym I use that has solid but padded floors I might even add a matt to help with that. Those of you who are using concrete! be sure to use very well padded shoes! it's worth it so you don't have to deal with shin splints!

Hi Kyle: I am a total beginner for jump rope, I am about 6', what rope do you recommend for me, in term of material of rope and length of the rope? Do you recommend rope mats, don't have a flat surface in my backyard. Thanks
@Jump15official3 жыл бұрын
These are my top recommended ropes (one at each end of the price spectrum) kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGjCooB5g8-BaNk Mats are great for protecting your rope, but not completely necessary. If you have a smooth surface to jump on (garage floor, tennis/basketball court, other smooth pavement) that can work fine. If you don't have any areas like that, then a mat isn't a bad idea. Just get one that is portable like the Crossrope LE mat or Yogorillamats exercise mat.👍

just wanted to say thanks. my rope was way too long based on sizing from multiple other sources. was constantly tripping over it and it was getting frustrating.

hi I would like to ask the Rope should be thicker or skinnier for not tripping thanks
@Jump15official3 жыл бұрын
Rope thickness really isn't a factor, it more has to do with things like form, technique, rope sizing, and maintaining consistency with in them. So if you use a 8' rope, just curious how tall are you?
@Jump15official3 жыл бұрын
5'11"
@terryreeves23023 жыл бұрын
Interesting, so based on Crossrope recommendations(and other sites) a person of your height would start out with a 9' rope, and as they get more proficient might want to go to 8'6" or even 8'. Of course there are always a lot of individual variables at play. About my only complaint with Crossrope is that their clip on system, while convenient, is set at 6" increments. Not that big of a deal, but it would be nice to have more size choices.@@Jump15official
@Jump15official3 жыл бұрын
Ya they all err on the side of caution for beginners. Last thing you want is someone thinking their rope is too short and send it right back when it's usually form and technique issues. If your an avid jumper it is better to use the rope you have, measure it excluding the handles and match it to the closest size offered. You can also adjust your ropes size to match the Crossrope size and see how it feels (maybe a little different if you have a long handles rope). I worked with Crossrope in the early days with their first system. Dave offered a ton of different sizes but it became a stocking nightmare so he widdled it down to the most purchased sizes. I personally believe the large majority of people can dial in their rope sizing within the 6" increments. It takes some practice and diligence, but everyone should do it to enjoy the exercise at the max potential.
@terryreeves23023 жыл бұрын
Yea, totally understand the stocking nightmare problem! I'm 6' tall and currently have both a 9' & 8'6'' 1/4 lb. rope. My problem is I have turned into a jump rope equipment addict, and want to try all options. Heck, I have 9 ropes I love to use, 4 Crossropes, 2 RXSG, 1 Buddy Lee, & 2 Elite. That's not counting the ones I've given away. Oops, just noticed the Crossrope Bolt looks mighty tempting!! Variety is the spice of life!@@Jump15official
