Correction: straightness matters when it comes to fix broadheads , and tuning them. It makes a huge difference.

A lot of good information. As someone who owns a bow but just mostly shot a target in the backyard years ago, this has helped me understand a lot of things I never knew about. But now I know what I would need to look at going forward if I wanted to make this a hobby again. Interesting and well informed video. Thanks!

I’m struggling, I shoot a compound with 50lb draw weight and 26.5 draw length my arrows are cut at 27. Right now my arrows are a 6.5mm shaft 400 spine at 8.4 gpi and everything said and done I’m at line 350 grains with 100gr field point. I wanna get to that 500 grain arrow weight so would it be best if I change shafts, go to a diff spine or add more weight upfront with inserts

I hunt with arrows I bought at Walmart. They have worked perfectly for me and at the time I'm not going to change a thing. I don't chase fads and just do what works for me.

It’s really all about what you want to do with archery. Many are just like you and the main thing is that you can group well and understand your limitations. Then just be happy with that. Sounds like you are. Good deal

I’d like to see y’all do a detailed bow build for a heavier arrow. I live in hog country so I want the peace of mind of penetrating a hog no matter where I hit them. Not worried about the deer as they are soft, and a good set up will punch them. I’m on a heavier arrow and just want to make sure my bow has been done right. I could prolly shave a few grains by going to a different spine since I’m kinda in the middle of the 2. Current arrow is 250 spine and 10.7 gr/inch and the 300 spine arrow is 8.7.

I ordered some arrow shafts a few weeks ago and they still haven't shipped so ill be using last years arrows most likely since everything these days is delayed or on a shortage. Buy your arrows last year lol.

I have a 70 lb bow with 30 inch draw can I shoot a carbon 30 inch arrow 250 grain .400 spine and a 125 grain tip ?
@ExodusOutdoorGear Жыл бұрын
You would want to shoot a 300 spine or 250 spine with that setup depending on the IBO and brace height of your bow. But 400 spine is way too weak

I would say the biggest mistake I made when I was younger was not buying the same errors consistently I would always try and switch it up and even to the day in the corner I have three or four arrows of six or seven different brands

You can take A 6000 or 3000 straighteness arrow straightness arrow and make it straight as a 1000 just cut out the junk If you build your own arrows and you cut your own arrows you fledge them yourself they need to spend tested them and see whhich ends Wobbles the most cut that in doubt also I thought he was talking about the back of the arrow not just the knock fit but taking the knock out and squaring the arrow cause if your knock does not fit that arrow flush all the way around one side is flush more than the Either the string is gonna push The arrow and different contact like say you're not fixing and a little bit of an angle so that's already gonna be correcting your error what's a little bit of an angle

I guess you have never had problems with broadheads on wobbly arrows
@davehalm73622 жыл бұрын
You are wrong about pin gaps and heavy arrows. Just sayin. The gap between pins are almost the same distance apart at 15, 25, and 35 on my set up (28.5 draw / 70# / 700 gr). Look at light arrows and check out how quickly the pins spread out. Light arrows lose speed much quicker than a heavy arrows thus the reason for increased distance between the pins. Using the same pin my 700 grain arrow only hits an inch lower than a 450 grain arrow at 20 yards. I'll be waitin' on the haters.
@chadsyl232 жыл бұрын
There is some truth to that. An increase of velocity will 2x the drag, so for instance if you double the velocity you 4x the drag. With that being said, not all builds are created equal. If you can force the arrow into equilibrium faster, creating a smaller turbulent layer, that statement is not true.

He’s also wrong about straightness. It matters as soon as you screw on fixed blade broadheads.
@chadsyl232 жыл бұрын
@@cantfoou when is a straight arrow straight? Only at rest. The point here is that a .006” vs .001” is negligible at best for 95% of us. If it matters to you we’ll then congrats you must be in the top 5% of shooters in the world that can shoot consistent enough to see the difference.
