I really coulden't understand why the BBC didnt edit Saville out of the totp programmes he presented! Or just show them with a warning that he would be presenting the show! People watched totp for the music, not the presenters!
@TheJules20114 жыл бұрын
He should have been edited out permanently from birth
@maxfrasier4 жыл бұрын
Have thought the same for long time ! Just edit out his bits, how hard can that be. Unless it's John Peel with his witty throwaways I'm not watching TOTP for the presenters
@simongill47154 жыл бұрын
And pretend he never existed? What I don’t understand is why people are so surprised. An old man hanging around little kids, no wife, doing lots of “charity work” the public are to blame too
@PeterPumpkinEater756 ай бұрын
The actual reason for this is because some of the complaints made by TOTP audience members can be traced back to actual existing episodes and the BBC doesn’t feel it appropriate to show these clips even with Savile removed as the victims can also appear in group/ audience shots. Fans asked in 2012 for Savile and DLT episodes to either be edited or shown with a warning and got that response
@DRAINPIPE578 жыл бұрын
The best time in the 80s 1982-83 Trouble is this will never get shown on BBC 4 in spring or summer 2018 due to its presenter Saville
@ajs418 жыл бұрын
+DAVID PYPER Plenty of other 1982-83 shows will be shown, happily.
@Glamking18 жыл бұрын
Well good news its been pushed forward into 2017 as we'd may see Jimmy the Hoover on the fronted 07/07/83 show which isn't Saville or DLT, as 2016 is the unlikely usual suspects of the double-bill year, and hoped next year would do as well, sadly it just leaves out 42 episodes including the two-part Christmas specials that don't involve Saville as he was already doing his fix-it.
@goffer438 жыл бұрын
Fortunately it could mean that we'll get to 1984 sooner when 'The Pops bade farewell to both Savile & DLT. Thus BBC4 will have to show ALL of the episodes after they've both gone!
@jayrox408 жыл бұрын
Word is they may not be showing the Mike Smith editions.
@Glamking18 жыл бұрын
I've complained about that one with it being corrected on BBC Four's schedule, as despite the late DJ passed away on the first day of August 2014, over the will was left by his widow.It hasn't yet been prevented from being shown yet, but they did show a clip of him in the 1982 documentary five months back and the Wham! performance was also from it. Previously back in 1994, he did block some of his episodes not to be shown on UK Gold at the time when he was alive.

Jimmy Savile must have been around a hundred years of age when this was recorded. All those young people and the BBC had that dinosaur presenting ToTPs (even before the allegations started). He looks like a grandad who's found his old summer holidays vest and has popped to the pub for a pint and a dance.
