I know that area pretty well cuz I used to work in the Palisades and I used to go swimming in Malibu and I definitely feel for the loss of that gorgeous land and the people who lived on it. It hasn't played out though that most of those people have a second home or maybe a third or fourth. Just saying. But for people who have only went home and now they have no home my heart definitely goes out to them and that's around the world including the Ukraine including the Holy Land including North Carolina and Tennessee and definitely California. They do say in a really old song, freedom is when you have nothing left to lose so hopefully they feel amongst the despair and the pain, a bit of freedom 🕊️ and God is with them

I grew up in Altadena. I'm 68-years-old. My hometown is decimated. Four of the homes I lived in growing up are gone, several of my old school friends who still lived there have lost everything. It isn't a street here, or a house there that is gone, it is block after block. The writer Zane Grey had a home there. It is gone now. All I can say is be grateful for everything that you have.

When you showed your weather station it reminded me of my father and every morning and evening he would walk the length of the hall to where he had a barometer hanging on the wall and tap it. I can hear him say, “There’s going to be rain tomorrow” Where did those fifty five years go?

And Ireland had a huge amount of snow in some places recently. And unprecedented amount! I remember first hearing about the prediction of climate change in the 80's. They said there will be wild swings of weather as the Earth tries to balance itself. That's what hurricanes etc do. They dissipate too much warm air and the rising warmth of the ocean. A lot of the reason there are more frequent hurricanes and much stronger ones. Nobody expected North Carolina and Tennessee to suffer the flooding and destruction they did from that hurricane. They're not even on the coast! You just never know these days.

Hi Susan & Desi, Mom and I are in Orange County, about 35 minutes south of the fires. We are okay but many friends are affected by the fires. I do want to share with everyone assuming that all of the people in Palisades, Malibu and Pasadena/Altadena are rich, that is so far from the truth! Many people bought their homes 40-60 years ago when it was middle class. Others inherited their home in those areas. It's not all wealthy people with multiple homes. My friend's grandparents just lost their business and home in the Palisades that they've had for 50 years. Anyway, thank you for your prayers! Locals are doing everything we can to help bring supplies. A great organization to donate to for North Carolina (since they still haven't recovered out there) is Save Our Allies.

My sister got to go home today after four days of evacuation. She's in mourning for our wonderful Pacific Palisades that holds so many memories. I grew up in Santa Monica so we went there to hike, shop, and stroll the beach. It's like our childhood being erased. So, so sad. But, she's alive and safe, so far. Hi Susan and Desi Love tonight’s video, feel you missing your friend Hal, and love the music. I’m writing from the San Fernando Valley section of Los Angeles. The wind hurricane of last Tuesday night was like nothing I’ve ever experienced living here since 1959. Last night my husband put his favorite guitars in his car as there were reports the fire was traveling in our direction -and then the wind changed. We also know people who have lost their homes. A family friend had just recently opened a new restaurant in Altadena. All the buildings across the street burned down, but the restaurant was not touched. He plans to re-open as soon as utility services are restored- the community will need him. Prayers for those souls we have lost and rain and strength are what we are asking for.

I live in California and the fires have become a part of our worst nightmare all over the state. I have no patience for climate change denial because I’ve lived here 70 years and the changes in climate have been evident for years. This is a beautiful and valuable place and most of our people are struggling to afford to stay here. The fire is devastating many poor, middle and high income earners. It doesn’t discriminate. I’m up in Central California with no danger or smoke this time. I’m grateful and worry about everyone down south.

Yes! People don't realize the fires can be anywhere in all of California! And it is a very very "long" state. And often fires in Oregon and Washington state don't get publicity but they've been suffering too with worse and more fires the last few years. Nothing like what's going on in SoCal right now though. This is unprecedented, even for California.

I live in CALIFORNIA and so grateful I’m safe, it’s been so hard to watch all the destruction in those neighborhoods. I’ll be contributing to help out . Thanks everyone for thinking of us here in SoCal. I'm in Orange County (near Disneyland) and the fires are a few miles up north in Los Angeles County. It's heartbreaking what those folks are going through, and just like earthquakes, fires could happen to any of us here. The outpouring of generosity is amazing (and much needed). I can't imagine being a family who has lost their home, now they have to find a place to live (with what money?), deal with insurances, FEMA, permits, transportation, jobs, schools for their children .... scary and heartbreaking.

Hi Susan and all. I'm here in cold, icey, snowy WV. Hubby and I just came home on Thursday from Wyoming. Our son passed away at 47 yo 12/23/24 from a massive heart attack. We brought his cremains home, took care of his personal business, went through his belongings, etc. He was single no children. Now we are both sick with the crud. No fun at any age, but being seniors is a bit scary. Small stuff compared to some of you. Keeping all in thought and prayer.

Oh no. I'm so so terribly sorry you lost your precious son. To be honest, I'm not surprised you're sick. Our immune system takes a huge hit when we're stressed. Especially if you flew...too easy to catch various bugs on the plane. That's just adding insult to injury isn't it. But maybe it's God's way of letting you know it's time to rest. I am out here in So California, about an hour away, although we aren't having the fires here we are experiencing power shut offs. Power was out yesterday for about 10 hours and the day before as well. The high winds are causing some power problems and contributing to the fires. Thanks for the video.

Your video was a nice way to end the day after being out clearing the snow!! But it was good to be outside so I enjoyed it. I cannot imagine how the people in California are going to get through this tragedy. It is so heartbreaking. I hope these fires can be contained soon. And I feel so bad for the animals too. They have no idea what is happening. Love all your suggestions especially the car charger/inflator. That looks so handy. Stay warm and take care.

I'm 61 and have been using coconut oil on my hair and also b4 drying after bathing I put it all over my body. It's not too greasy and moisturizes my entire self! I love it!

I was born and raised in LA. I have lived in San Diego for the past 30 years. A lot of family that includes kids and grandson live there. Fortunately they are okay. Our niece lost her home in Altadena 😢. But she’s safely home with her mom. My heart is aching for all of those who have been displaced! Praying for all of them! ❤🙏🏻

In Northern California, so not in harm's way, but I do have relatives who are under evacuation standby. So far, they are okay. Praying for So. Cal and those affected by the hurricanes. In America, we have certainly been going through it lately. We will stand together, as always, and I know we will get through this!

I’m in the San Bernardino mountains of Southern California in the little town of Running Springs. In September we had a major fire that burned a huge part of our mountain. I have been through 6 fire evacuations with one fire coming up to 30 feet of my back door. Going through fires is a frightening experience and my heart goes out to all those who have lost or are facing the potential loss of their homes. The winds are causing massive power turn offs up here and for many of us, we face of late, many hours sometimes up to a couple of days without heat with freezing temps at night. It is is so hard to comprehend how within a time period of 1 1/2 hours, there are folks dealing with staying warm and others with fire and the fear of losing their homes….The wind is a powerful force of nature and effects us mere human beings in so many ways! Everyone, please keep in prayer all those who are in a place of hardship be it here in California or back in North Carolina or in the rest of the world. 🙏🏻
