Raul, I am 54 and will begin flying lessons this summer. I am a 36 year, Air Force KC-135 maintainer, and retire in Jan '23. I am married with three young children and I want to buy a Mooney, but am keeping my options open at six seat aircraft. That is how I came upon your channel today. Your explanation on why one should become a pilot was well articulated!! You are very inspiring. Thank you!

Welcome! Thank you so very much and I am honored to have you. Thank you for sharing your comment because these type of comments highly electrify me. From an experience point of view, I'd definitely consider the Six so you can take the family wherever you please. It'll be slower than the Mooney but I love flying with the family even if it may take a little longer to get there. I hope you keep me updated with your search! Thank you and God bless you my new friend!

I waited until I was 41 to start. One of my biggest regrets was not starting when I was younger. I always thought it was too hard and too expensive. While it’s not free I wasted more money that the cost of my PPL on dumb stuff that has long since been forgotten.

I had the passion since I was young and then I worked at Jacksonville International Airport and would always spend time watching the airplanes come and go. Although I was young and not financially sound I still managed to find myself at the flight school almost 7 days a week.

Rauli, Thank you once again for an excellent video. Aviation is the most rewarding accomplishment you can have personal and business wise. Remember, we are less than 1% of the entire world population . . . we are very special people. Friendship, Fellowship, and even Brotherhood can describe us, we are a huge family. Pilots respect, help and support each of us. Respect is another word that describes us no matter if you are flying an Ultralight airplane or a 747. We don't compete against each of us, we are here to help and enjoy our accomplishments as Pilots. Gracias nuevamente y un abrazo desde la Florida Central. Keep sharing those awesome moments with us. . . KUDOS !!!!!

Hi Marcus, welcome to the channel! My friend, I don't believe in minorities or majorities. There is only one of everybody sharing one world as the human race. Such mental illusionary words can have emotional attachments and are often use to trigger anger, fear, shamefulness and so on. I, on the other hand, love all people for who they are and their quality and great uniqueness. To that end; which course are you using Marcus? I used to know a great CFI who instructed me with my instrument certificate but he moved to Illinois. Other than him, I don't know any other great ones. My brother, I really enjoy watching others go from start to finish so please keep me in touch and posted with your success. God Bless!

That is great advice! Also, interview a few CFI's so you don't get stuck with an incompatible one. I made that mistake during my initial training and had to swap. Having to do this slows down your training.

@@FlyingDirty what was your initial motivation to learn how to fly? For me my motivation is freedom and travel. Currently I’m 21 turning 22 in May and I have been to many states and a few countries. Though, I don’t like being on airlines and I want the freedom to just wake up, plan out a flight, and then go to that destination on my own a few days later. I think my plan will be to live frugal for 3-4 years and then I can get the license around 25-26 years old. I want to get the PPL but I don’t want to go into debt for it.
@FlyingDirty
@FlyingDirty 2 жыл бұрын
@@YusefWakeel there were several motivational reasons that got me flying. But the biggest is my passion for airplanes. For me it began when I was around 12 when a friend of the family took me up in ST. Augustine Florida. Then, a few years later, a friend of mine invited me on a night flight through Jacksonville, FL. Ever since I was hooked. In my late teens I got a job at the Jacksonville International Airport and I used to go down to the ramp as often as possible to watch the airplanes land and takeoff. I just knew that I wanted to be a pilot and own an airplane someday. Don’t let go that burning desire and let it drive you to your life destination.

Greetings from Florida! Is your engine turbocharged?
@FlyingDirty
@FlyingDirty 3 жыл бұрын
No. But for the Cherokee Six you can only get a normalizer and it can be hard on the engine if you use it too much. They run very hot fast and also burn a lot of fuel at lower levels. You will not benefit much from a normalizer unless you fly where you will need oxygen. And that can become a major problem due to what most people don't even think or know about and that is the extreme danger of fluttering at higher altitudes. In higher altitudes the airspeed indicator is no longer reliable in terms of safe maneuvering speeds and you may quickly experience fluttering in a Cherokee Six and that wing might come apart suddenly and without much warning. It's just not a good combination for a Six in my opinion. Now that being said, here in Denver, you can benefit from a normalizer on takeoffs but it does you absolutely nothing at lower altitudes. Thanks for the question Tulio!

Do you think its worth it for me to get my ppl? I do not want A career in aviation, but I’ve always wanted to fly since I was a boy. Even if it is just a couple of hours a month. I am just worried about the cost of owning a plane, is it cheaper to rent a plane?
@FlyingDirty

That's probably not a fair question to ask me 😀 I love aviation so much and it has been an incredible journey for me since 1998. I cannot say no to your question. I most definitely think you should do it! You're like me. I never wanted to fly commercial. My only goal was to do exactly what I am doing now. Loving life and sharing my flying passions with family and friends. There is a rule floating around that if you fly 50 plus hours a year it would be better to buy. Based on my experience, I would agree! Thanks Rex and keep at it!

I remember going through my PPL training. Most memorable moment was the first solo in the pattern and looking to my right and thinking “oh S@&t, I have to do this alone this time” most terrifying, exhilarating and joyful moment at the same time.
