I built my Ebike from a Schwinn 21 speed I've had for a number of years. Here's what I've learned. Wattage of the motor!!!! The higher the wattage the more power the bike will have. Specifically if you weigh 225lbs like I do. I'd not have a bike with anything less than a 1,000 watt motor.. Secondly, voltage. Don't waste your money on an Ebike with anything less than 48 volts. Battery.. People tend to think the larger the Amp Hour the faster. NOT TRUE. Get the largest Amp Hour battery you can afford. It will lengthen the ride. Finally, no two riders will ride the same. I tend to use my Ebike as a Moped with very little peddling. My 48 volt 13 Amp Hour battery will get me max 14 miles on just throttle.. Truth is, I can't pedal fast enough even in the highest gear unless going up a Hill to assist. They are a lot of fun. I find myself riding the Ebike vs my 143 HP Yamaha FJR.

Voltage is very important, if you have a 1000w motor the best battery would be a 52v . It gives you the possibility to maximize the motors power.

The controller is important too! I'm juiced up a 500 to a 1000 before I don't ride it very much but it definitely showin a difference for like 30 bucks. Did it for fun and I don't write it all the time but we'll see.

i did this with my mongoose dolemite, its a front hub, i have a rack, an extra battery, and its 1500w....i weigh in at about 145, so total carry wgt . approx. 160 to 165 lbs, i hit about 33 to 34 on flats, and 36 to 37 down hill ......just sayin, it is a lot of fun.....good video, thanks !

My folding vivi E bike” with a 350watt motor” hits 32 MPH on the flats……I weigh 130 pounds tho. I’m in the process of building a full suspension mountain bike that’s all Aluminum, and weighs 35 pounds” just the bike” I’m using a 1000w rear motor, and a 1000w 13ah 48v battery……I hope it blows the doors off my folding vivi E- bike……I hope to complete my other E-bike before it’s sold. I build, repair, and sell gas and E- bikes…..I think the e-bikes are better than gas” but I hardly make a profit off the ebikes” You have to buy the kit and battery Separate, and the battery is as much as the damn kit” for a good e-bike build” your looking atleast a little over $500” for a good e-bike. I’m making some gas bike goodies” to make the chain and sprocket more Reliable” I’m fabricating the stock sprocket with a Centimetric Collar tack wielded to the sprocket……the collar will have 2 Allen screw holes that will lock the sprocket down” after the rag style system is tight” no more trying to center it, and no more broken spokes. This will only work on a mountain bike with a 1.5 inch hub. The other gas bike mode will keep a CNC hub from murdering your spokes” basically they will be Dorito shaped spoke protectors using Aluminum and hight strength rubber In between, with a hole opening for the cnc hub hole and a screw” for compression of the rubber to expand to lock it into the spokes. It works almost like a rubber expander used on a freeze plug hole” on a automotive engine” so far the Prototypes are showing promise.

@@MadfugginMax The best "e-bike" that you can get is a regular bicycle that you convert into electric and that's exactly what I did with mines. My bicycle is a Diamond Back Ridge Runner, a 1983 bicycle that I replaced the rear wheel with a 1,000w 26" motor wheel I purchased from Amazon in a throttle bike conversion kit that came with the throttle, the controller and the wheel, and then I purchased a triangle 48v 1,000 battery that I simply installed within the "triangle" part of the battery. A nice battery that does not look like an "e-bike" at all.

@@yafilmDOTcom very nice congratz on that :),yeah i was on the fence about doing that too and about to purchase a kit from lunacycles for one of those monster 2500w bafangs, eventually i just decided to order a "cyrusher xf800" w/17ah battery in red, its got the 750w-1500w peak bafang, dual susp, fat tires w/puncture protection, cadence sensor, 80nm torque on that motor and was pretty much the best bang for my buck at 2500$ usd after promo code and 10$ paypal coupon i could find after searching hundreds of bikes and companies for months, I had 3 bikes in mind after all that was researched, that xf, the ripcurrent s from juicedbikes or the foxbat from bolton ebikes but im super happy with my purchase and man i cant wait till oct 6th when it arrives im super excited! :). I even bought like 5 accessories from them , they had some pretty decent accessory prices too. waterproof cell case for behind handlebar with the clear plastic for the touch screen, a bag for behind seat with 2 bottle holders, i passed on the rack they sell though cause it was a insane 120 bucks when amazon has ones even better for only 30$. A rechargeable rear brake light with 3 diff colors and modes (the bike has 2600 lumen connected headlight but no brake light, most seem they dont though cept the fx-35 i almost bought). but ya like..all great prices cept that rack. No regrets on any of it, Oh that xf includes fenders too. Edit, i forgot to add its got the half twist throttle on the right handle.

Impressive speed for a fat bike I'm looking to build a 1000w 48v kit. I'm a big male rider but I work 3 miles up the road. I figure I'll wait on a car purchase and build my own bike. Maintenance vs gas vs electric vs ease of use it's all too easy. The speed limit is 30 on my way to work. Bikes are supposed to go 25 legally. Any tips on night riding with ebikes? @@DirtyFan2 Motor speed is defined by voltage and motor winding but usually with these kits you need 52v 14s li-ion battery or 51,2v 16s lifepo4 battery. You also need enough amperage to have enough power. With those voltages you need 40-50A of current to go 50kmh without slowing alot in hills. Range is determided by battery watt hours, speed, tyre pressure and type, weight and how big rider is because bigger riders have higher aerodynamic resistance. I can give general energy usage for electric bikes: 25 kmh = 10 wh/km, 35 kmh = 20 wh/km, 45 kmh = 30 wh/km, 55 kmh = 40 wh/km so if you want 100 km of range with speed of 50 kmh then your energy usage is 35 wh/km so you need: (35 wh/km) * 100km so you need 3500wh of battery and that is in electric moped territory. Even if you use battery with greatest energy density in market you would need 14kg battery and then it is better to go 72v system so if you ever need more power for your bike then you would have it. I recommed buying battery with samsung 35e 18650 or samsung 50e 21700 cells but buy battery from reputable sources and you would need 52v 70ah battery and that is pretty expensive.

Someone's say you're slow for 1000w. I don't think so. Why? Let we consider something, 1 Fat tyres, 2 heavy bicycle , 3 rider weight, 4 he use phone GPS speedometer, instead of original one fitted in the most kit's. He definitely hit 30 mph. Which is pretty good for fat 1000w. Some people compare mtb or hybrid bicycles with 700c tyres to this fatty boy 4.0 size xhaxx. Think a little guys!!!

even if some one lighter uses it they still only get 28mph ..even if some little more heavy .....WHy because it restricted to 28mph because 48v controller to protect it ..the controller can often go up to 52v for short period ......what will change is the range ....lighter smaller person will get the same speed and larger person ..but smaller person gets more range ...Ive tested this out with my brother ...me at 7stone 5'10 his 15 stone 6'2 ...top speed was the same on 1000w 48v bike top speed 28mph with pedeling ..and about 26mph full throttle no peddling ...not matter what you do it wont go over that top 28mph unless down hill then breif second it go over 28mph but then you notice itdrops back to 28mph even though ur using same power ...it not it using less power .....there be difference in torque ..and hill climbing ...lighter person will benefit most from hills and using drawing power to get up

Answered my own question. A 52v battery will bump you up to 35mph throttle only, as long as yet set your display to max current that your controller allows

Controller ..AMP ...is it 25amp controller or 35amp or 60smp ....Then you can have higher Volts 48v 52v higher more power ...both these effect range less range higher power the third one that effect not so much the top speed but the Torque the ability to climb is Motor Watts ....250w up 3000w even higher.....1000w most settle for If you want ok range good speed and torque for Ebikes then many would say ..52V Battery Duel 2 battery 13AH + 20AH paired using battery blender ....1000w/1500w motor ... 35smp controller ... This combo would get you 35-40mph ...60mile range ..and enough torque give you little kick on take off ...and will climb most hills at speed 20-25mph What you want to factor is ...what can bike frame handel in battary how many what wight before it become compromised handeling .....then need figure out is hard tail and how fast can you go on that bike before it feels too sketchy .....once figure that out that what want bike to be built to handle with in it limits ......for me if DIY MTB 28MPH seems to be sweet spot any faster it gets sketchy and lose lot of range

1000w motors seem to max out before 30 mph. it all depends on motor brand battery brand and bike weight. 1000w has some real power to it

and you have to keep in mind how fast you're draining the battery going at that speed. at a certain point its just not efficient to go faster you'll just burn more battery for less distance traveled..
