I never seen the 70s d. But i understood how good they were. However i seen these steelers and they were the baddest group i have ever seen to date. So if the 70 were badder than this group then no way will the nfl ever find any better.

The 70s team had great 'backers in Jack Lambert, Jack Ham, and Andy Russell. But you had pressure up front from L.C. Greenwood and Mean Joe Greene. Not to mention the secondary with Hall of Famers Mel Blount and Donnie Shell.

Where are the Detroit Lions of the early 1960s? They had Joe Schmidt at MLB (10 pro-bowls, Hall of Fame), Wayne Walker at RLB (3 pro-bowls), and the underrated Carl Brettschneider at LLB.

They did have a very good defense. They had the guys you mentioned as well as Alex Karras and Roger Brown . They get overshadowed because they didn't win any championships after the 50s which is a shame because they deserve the recognition.

The 70’s linebackers were in a 4-3 defense and had different responsibilities compared to the 90’s linebackers in the 3-4 scheme. The 70s linebackers blitzed very little, they didn’t have to, they played pass defense much better and played the run very well as well. The 90s backers didn’t excel as much with pass defense in coverage but blitzed the hell out of the QB.

Before Brown took over in 1993 it was David Little and Hardy Nickerson at ILB. In '93 Nickerson went to Tampa in free agency and Little was released in training camp and later retired.

"Odonnel threw it rite to him and there was no receiver out there" thats rite folks, he did that twice. Miscommunication he said. He was good for steelers because he never made them mistakes. Some how his last game as a steelers he did it twice in same game. Steelers were heavy dogs for some reason even though they seem to be the better team that year. If u knew dallas they were unstoppable but this game they done nothing. They looked like scrubs. The steelers were up and down field. This game shouldnt of been close let alone a dallas victory. People can say what they want but this game was tossed by ODONNEL. STEELERS SHOULD BE 8 AND 0 IN SUPERBOWLS.

funzjag never forgive Neil for blowing that super bowl so bad. Those 90s defenses we had were so fun to watch. It's a shame our offense was average at best. Cowher was a great coach but in all those years he never found a above average qb is beyond me. He tried to make Kordell Stewart work so bad for so long. Stewart should have just stayed in his "slash" game. He was never gonna make it as a full time qb. But Bill took forever to quit the experiment.
