Ogerpon definitely deserved her spot on this list! The legendaries of Kitakami are so rich in lore and personality and Ogerpon is absolutely no exception! She’s such a sweetheart I just can’t help but love her! Can’t wait for her and the other legendaries to eventually make their way to the anime! I just can’t wait to see more of her! :D

If we're going with the Right Back At Ya canon, Meta Knight is a veteran from the war against Nightmare. While the side of good won the war, victory came at the cost of most of the Star Warriors' lives, with Meta Knight being one of the few survivors. He likely feels guilt for how much was sacrificed to win the war, and is mentoring Kirby to be as strong as he can be, so such a disaster does not repeat itself.

Despite Kirby being my favorite franchise, I somehow didn't even consider Meta Knight being on this list. But when I start hearing Kirby music in the #1 entry, I think, "of course!". He's one of the most iconic masked figures in all of gaming, and his exact origins in the games' universe and motivations for wearing a mask are still mysterious even to this day (his character also just has a really cool "aura" in general). It makes perfect sense for him to be here. Also damn, I haven't heard "WOO META KNIGHT FUCK YEAH" in a long time.

I know it's not a well known game (probably cause it sounds like an undertale clone despite having nothing to do with it) but the masked kid from underhero should be on here. He's a faceless minion that manages to kill the hero of the game and is tasked with returning the magical migufins to the bosses with the help of the hero's magic sword. Literally being faceless is a major part of his character. I won't spoil but chapter 4 the story gets really good too.

I'd throw the Phantom from Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies as an honorable mention. A being without any emotion able to perfectly act out any of his disguise's personalities to pull off assassinations is spine-chilling to me. He disguises himself as someone who is the complete opposite of his personality, and literally ACTS OUT his majorly emotional personality flawlessly, and is able to do the most insane acts due to his lack of fear

Kinda surprised you didn't have Fawful himself in the mix. He conceals his face in all games with those glasses in all his games, and his identity in both Partners in Time and Bowser's Inside Story's prologue. Even if the latter case of the latter style is only in the prologue, and every time he's onscreen you KNOW it's him due to his speech patterns.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT YOU INCLUDED GRAVITY CIRCUIT ON HERE!!!! I finished the game, twice(yes I love it that much) recently and I love it to pieces. Even if that New Game+ run with Circuit, Master mode, and Rude enemy modifiers gave me horror. Nega was a concept so simple yet so effective that you many of us forgot it existed. His reveal and subsequently his boss fight was easily my favorite moment in this game. It’s like meeting a Heroric icon or a Rival you never knew you had but was always there. Two choices of mine. The first is Joker from Persona 5. Not only is his mask literal, but it's also the Jungian type of mask. Technically, even his glasses are a mask, because he doesn't actually need to wear them. The second one is the Phantom from Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies. An international super spy who's been wearing so many masks for so long, he can't even remember his true self, or even his own face. In fact, WE never see his true face either.

An honorable mention I would like to recommend is Haku from the Utawarerumono series, he literally takes up a mask and the identity of one of his close friend after he dies with only him and his’s friend sister initially knowing his identity and faking his own death. Masquerading as someone else to help his friends and niece and settle a civil war at first before eventually dealing with both main architects of it. Helps that the mask overcome his more than physical shortcomings and is one of a few granting great powers though usage past it’s limits will disintergrate the user into salt. Forsaking his own identity while some figure him out and has actively broken down to one person for taking his friend’s identity

Personal honorable mention going to Yin from the Trails games. In Zero they're introduced as an assassin brought into Crossbell from Calvard by the criminal organization Heiyue, but early on they wisely reveal their identity to us the players, but not the main characters. So we get to have fun looking at they're regular life and try to figure out where Yin begins and ends. They even get a rival of sorts in Azure

Sure, Ogerpon doesn’t have a Tails to have a crush on, but her bond with not only the player, but also her original trainer AND Kieren more than make up for it.

Masks are wonderful things. I have a number of them on literal levels, and even more on a metaphorical. My favorite is the panther head that has a mouth that opens and closes and eyes that follow both eyes and cameras. It allows one to be themselves by being a barrier of sorts.
