It wasn't about Boba Fett until George Lucas saw it and just on a whim told the developers to change the main character to Boba Fett. Of course we'll never know if that was a good call or if it would've worked out, but still.. The 1313 that got me interested was derailed even before the entire project got cancelled, so that's like an extra layer of never going to happen.

It's sad that games like Scalebound, Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned, Split Second 2, Star Wars: 1313, Silent Hills, Starcraft: Ghost, Rainbow Six: Patriots, Mega Man: Legends 3, Banjo-Threeie, and Prey 2 get cancelled, yet crap like Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, Umbrella Corps, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Tony Hawk's: Pro Skater 5, Ride to Hell: Retribution, and No Man's Sky get released.

Funny looking back in hindsight at all this. BG&E2 is coming, hopefully sometime next year, KH3 is coming out February 2019, Star Fox 2 got released on the SNES Classic last year, Death Stranding is now Norman Reedus pulling toenails simulator, Yooka-Laylee crashed and burned, Mega Man 11 is coming out, giving us some hope about Legends 3. It's funny how so many things change in hindsight. (Can't wait for this comment to become outdated)

Maybe one or two because the first spin off game was pretty good and it tied in the story well between 1 & 2. But do we need so many spin offs just to take our money? I'm very happy to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Dammed on your list. As a GIANT Pirates fan I was so excited for that game, and it broke my heart when it got cancelled -- especially after seeing so much great footage and concept art. Monster Tale Ultimate. Monster Tale is an under appreciated, unknown game for the DS that was overshadowed by the release of the 3DS shortly afterward. It's a great game (made by the developers of Henry Hatsworth's Puzzling Adventure ^u^) that deserved more popularity and attention than it got. When a remake for the 3DS eshop was announced a few months back, old fans of the game and the people who missed out on the release were very excited to see MTU and what it could bring. Although not necessarily cancelled, the last word from the devs a year ago was "coming soon," and with the release of the Switch approaching fast, it seems the remake will fall into the same hole the original did if it ever gets released :'(

They were planning on Jak 4, but after seeing how realistic the game was and how it was losing it's old art style, they canned it and went to do The Last of Us.

The N64 Robotech game looked really interesting, and would have loved to see it get a proper release. Of particular note - the game did the "reflection of the protagonist in the HUD" thing before Metroid Prime did, with Rick Hunters face being reflected in the cockpit, which I thought was pretty neat.

This video made me reminisce about being a kid and watching Nintendo Power magazine like a hawk for news about Earthbound 64. When it seemed to disappear from the magazine, I went to Gamestop (maybe EB Games back then?) every week to ask the employees there if they knew anything about the game. They never had any idea what I was talking about and I seriously cried the day I heard that Mother 3 was coming out so many years later. Ahh... memories.

Honestly I'd rather have released awful games than unreleased games. Game companies don't know what people want so you cant trust them to only cancel things that should be canceled. Scalebound is a recent example. And Squenix with rpgs and Konami with horror games are both examples of companies arbitrarily deciding people don't like genres that they love.

Interesting thing is that the cancelled Pirates game was actually the 5th in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, there have been others with some mildly following the movies (mostly the 1st game had some stuff based of the 1st movie), but they were mostly done in their own fashion. Another pirate game that was cancelled was a Russian project called Oddesy of Captain Blood.

Damn, what were those games in the credits?! My most disappointing unreleased games are the fan sequel to Star Control 2, Project 6014. I had super high hopes after playing the demo. That one, and Rock Band: Japan. It would've been cool if the series could've had more worldwide support, but it just wasn't meant to be.

Yooka Laylee looks awesome! One cancellation that hurt is B.C. for the Xbox and PS2. The game was ambitious, too ambitious at the time. Thus, it was scrapped. Maybe it could be rebooted today? I don't know.

One of the games I'll never get over being canceled is probably Ushiro. Level-5 was apparently gonna publish it on the 3DS. The only trailer for it implied that it was going to be a turn-based RPG where you play as a ghost, with one of the major mechanics being able to look into the lives of humans by possessing them. Apparently it's going to be brought back as a novel, but honestly I still feel kinda betrayed.
