Top Thrill 2 at Cedar Point: Engineering Racing Performance

Alberto Ferri - Zamperla’s Roller Coaster Division Director - tells why Top Thrill 2 is a benchmark exemplifying cutting-edge advancements in roller coaster technology and design:
Total Cost of Ownership: TT2's aluminum-milled chassis exemplifies Zamperla's commitment to a reduced cost of ownership. This design reduces the amount of time and money required to operate and maintain the vehicles over the life of the ride.
Cutting-Edge Construction: TT2 features carbon fiber elements, which dramatically lower the train weight. With the goal of introducing cutting edge materials to coaster design Zamperla partnered with a leading company that produces carbon fiber for F1® cars.
Wheels, Testing, and Compounds: The company went through several iterations of wheel sizes and linings before finalizing the design of a 530 mm (20.8 in) wheel, one of the largest in the industry.

I immediately thought of you when I saw the wheel size 😂 the design looks incredible. The wheel carrier as a whole looks pretty robust.

Apparently, it is possible to sit in the seat, but having the legs touching the wheels. But I heard that Zamperla is fixing that issue

​​@@ryantheridemechanicHave you seen close up footage of it going over the top hat? First 2 sets of road wheels stop spinning before the train hits the final red track strip going up, and the up stop wheels are fully jammed into the rail the whole way over. The first 4 sets of road wheels quit spinning and the first 5 of upstop are fully jammed in. It appears almost as though the train can't quite articulate over the top, and the momentum of the rear is mashing the front through. In addition to that - I wouldn't think briefly lifting off the rails would be enough to make the road wheels stop spinning, potential bearing issue?
