i live in PA..we go there every single year...rode this amazing ride over 40 times...crying now its gone..."arms down..arms down...then the brakes go down..you coast back like 2 feet...then you know your going 124mph in like 4 seconds.

I'm beginning to suspect that new footer may not necessarily be for a vertical spike. Is it possible they may be doing a complete second top hat? Maybe with an additional LSM acceleration on the straightaway after the first hill?

Probably won’t happen. Sorry to ruin the theories but I don’t think there would be crazy top hats and spikes since that sounds too over exaggerated.

@@Mrbushbtalls837 In all honesty, it's still probably going to be a vertical spike. But I hadn't seen anybody out there even speculate on a second top hat and wanted to put the idea out there.

i always felt if they were originally planning something big for 2020-2022, they even claimed that they would top steel vengeance somehow but i wonder after that accident, i wonder if they used that budget for that ride to create a Top Thrill Dragster 2.0 of somekind Again, we will just have to see what they will announce later on

I agree, the spike will likely be vertical. My first thought being, the "twisted spike" could potentially be the more costly option of the two, while requiring more speed to reach the desired height, opposed to the spike being vertical. If Cedar Point intends in any way to break the 500' barrier, why kill what is potentially the World's Greatest free fall ever given by a coaster with another spiral?

I don't see Zamperla getting involved with TTD. 1 they don't have a history of high accelerated rides. 2 they can't even get Wild Mouse to run for a full day weeks before cedar points open the ride kept breaking down and zamperla been working on it and still can't get the issue figured out so that alone not giving them good status with cedarfair. I know if I'm cedarfair and I keep seeing park goers getting evac off a new ride 2 days in a row and seeing a new ride constantly breaking down I would be pissed and embarrassed. So I see intamin being the only ones involved in TTD they know the ride inside and out and to be honest Intamin has stepped up their game.

If Cedar Point says the maintenance problems weren't worth the records, then I think they should've just replaced the launch with an LSM close to the original acceleration. I just think anyone who didn't get to experience the original but wanted to should get something as close to that as possible. Even if it was the world's tallest coaster, I don't think that's worth butchering the launch (the train doesn't even go all the way up the spike which defeats the purpose) and I don't care if they add rollbacks, a longer ride, or more elements (Just ride another coaster for those last two) none of that is worth replacing a one great powerful launch with a few launches that are only a fraction of the original. There's plenty of swing launches around anyway (Impulse Coasters, Sky Rocket II, Pantheon, Icebreaker) so they're not really a 'unique experience' anymore and I think swing launches are overrated. The intense launches like original TTD, Xccelerator, Kingda Ka, and Storm Runner are more of a unique experience and they need to the last two need to be preserved. I really don't see in any way how TTD with a vertical spike/swing launch will be better than the original let alone best in the world. The only possible coaster that can be the greatest in the world is an RMC (or Intamin prefab) of similar size or larger than Steel Vengeance and Iron Gwazi. If TTD gets a swing launch then it will be the most overrated coaster in the world hence making CP home to the two most overrated coasters the other being Millennium Force.
