It is the end of the season as I type this -- actually just after Christmas -- and I made my first batch of wine from the vineyard this year! That playlist and the complete Vineyard 2020 playlists can be found here: My First Wine -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmmZmWqCeLx0e7c Vineyard 2020 -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/noq5d6GEjtCAbNU

Very informative, there is sure a lot to know about pruning grape vines. Looks like a lot of work, but they sure were beautiful last year!

Grape vine pruning on a smaller scale like this is interesting. It's part science and part art, and you need to re-learn it to some extent every year. The yield in the vineyard depends on how well it is pruned so I hope I do a good job!

Right around 18 minutes was a very bright bird that landed on the horse's "rope" fence ... what kind of bird was that???
@PlanetMojo4 жыл бұрын
That was a bluebird. You can see it clearly in a freeze frame, so I'll do that and post it in the community.

I really loved this video. You explained everything you did and why. I'm new to grapes, but understood it all. Thank you. Other pruning videos just gloss over and don't explain very much. Hope you have a bumper crop!

Thank you very much Pat! Some people say I talk too much -- it's nice to hear a kind word now and then 😊 We actually harvested these grapes three months ago and it was a bumper crop in spite of a drought! I actually made some wine as well -- not much, but I'll be making an update video in a couple of days. I grow 2 shoots up & 2 down on the fence because most my property is in the shade. If most of the world grows it up toward the sun, what are the reasons to grow it down besides the wind?
@PlanetMojo Жыл бұрын
All varieties with a trailing habit are grown downwards, mostly on a top wire cordon system, otherwise you would be fighting nature.

You pulled what, 1100 pounds off the vineyard last year? This year looks like you'll get another good year. When we starting Row F again?
@PlanetMojo4 жыл бұрын
(1114 lbs. 😉) -- Soon. I will be replanting it to make up for the disease loss the year before, and will be finishing the trellising this spring.

@@PlanetMojo looking forward to seeing that! (And Mother Nature cooperating.)
