I love the British, so kind and knowledgeable, even cares for the audience and says remember to stretch. It's hard work. I used to work in a vineyard. Now I just have a side of the house with a row.

When you prune, could you show everyone where on the bud you take the cane off from? What I mean is show a close up please.

Good afternoon, I have a few months old red cardinal grape, I heard it Is a table grape, this my first time in growing grapes and am so confuse to what to do, what to use spur pruning or cane pruning. Am just in the beginning of growing , all I can see or watched is, all the cane is already old, mine is still green with old ĺeaves on it. I have so many questions in mind... When will I cut the tip of my cane? do i have to remove all the old leaves? what happend ifvi remove the old leaves, will it die? how to have the fruitng cane or spurs cane, so on and so forth. Where can i find the complete video from the start of planting up to harvesting the fruit. I hope you can help me. Thank you. May from Philippines.

I hate to say this but I feel like you covered everything but how to actually prune. We know how to warm up now, what tools to use, how to be highly visible in a dangerous vineyard, and how to wash our feet. Nothing about where exactly to cut. Above or below the nodes? Why would you cut one way and not the other (of the two methods)? Will all that grow back the following year? Etc. I shouldn’t complain about the info in a free video, which took your time to produce and edit, but consider it feedback for the next one please. Thanks for posting and sharing though, even if it wasn’t the info I was looking for, I do appreciate the info that was there.

Hi there Eric, thank you for your feedback. This video is part 1 of a 3-part series. We recommend watching part 2 and part 3 which will hopefully answer your questions. You can also find these videos on this KZbin channel.

What did you do when you cut the tip of the cordon for the first time, did you remove all the old leaves? because every time I watched a video in training their grapes in the first time, the cane is still green and with leaves, then on the next video, the cane now is brown, thick and there is no more leaves, what happened in between.

To sum it all up. Wear a bright vest so wabbit hunters don't mistake you for that waskely wabbit. Second clean your tools so not to introduce pathogens from the pruning sheets you used to clip you zuchinni plants that died from powdery mildew. And third make sure to do your morning workout so you don't pull a back muscle (Pelaton optional) old Denise Austin stretching video preferable! Do these things and you'll be healthy as the grape vines that griw the grapes you need to make your homemade wine! Enjoy! P.S. I don't necessarily mean enjoy the Denise Austin video although it's perfectly fine if you do. Guys also lol

Hello everybody. Can someone explain 3:28 please. 'The more wood we remove, the lower yield of fruit.' Why? Don't we want to yield more fruit?
@pwergamer497 Жыл бұрын
They chose quality over quantity for their situation, yours maybe different. This is what pruning is for and he actually gave his reasons to control the amount of fruit which is easy to manage.
@TheAWRI Жыл бұрын
Hope this helps…through pruning (removing some of the buds), we can regulate the yield. All buds contain bunch primordia which become inflorescences and ultimately the bunches we harvest. The more buds we remove, the lower the potential yield. Viticulture is not necessarily about maximising yield, because quality suffers if the vines don’t have the capacity to ripen the fruit.

I might have missed the “when to prune” (only “cold of winter”) what’s the best time of the year to prune?
@TheAWRI Жыл бұрын
The time of pruning can vary depending on your objective and the weather. In general terms it can begin once the vine is dormant from late autumn/winter. Others may choose to do late pruning late in winter/early spring if trying to delay or extend the harvest date from summer into the cooler autumn months.

Mine is too. But I still want to prune it if that makes it produce more fruit. But as I understood him, he said the more wood you cut, the less grapes you'll get. ???? I want more grapes, not less. Maybe I shouldn't prune afterall. ???? I need a glass of my grape wine after watching this, I'm totally confused. I guess I'll keep reading...

wasn't very helpful as when you were pruning the shot was too wide to see what you were doing looks like above the bud but cut all the fruiting canes off
