Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Parrots are expensive!
But Conures make great pets or companions that can live, usually, up to about 40 years (of course, it depends on the species).
If you are looking to get a parrot in the US for more than $250, but less than $1,000, then most of your choices (that I could come up with) are Conures.
My list of parrots in this price range:
Quakers, Indian Ringneck, Green-cheek Conures, Bourkes, Nandays, Jendays, Dusky, Senegal, Half-moon, Crimson, Sun-
My first choice? A Green-cheek Conure. They have several benefits:
Green-cheeks are easy to find (in this price category) compare to others in this category. They have been bred enough that they come in several colors, so you can get a color you like. They are also one of the most economical in this price category and they seem to love people. In case noise level is an issue where you live, they are also on the 'quieter' side for a Conure parrot :)

I do, but a lot depends on the bird too. Each is unique.

I guess it's the suns and jendays that have made us think all conure's are ear piercing 😆 Are your blue throats and your dusky your quietest conures? Where would your goldens rank with their loudness vs your other conures? Also are goldens so fragile because their immune systems don't work as well? I wonder if we'll find out there's something they eat or drink in the wild that they need for health... Thx!

@@hammer-r I like the way you think. My birds must be very happy. Seriously though, I agree. They go around expressing themselves instead of being confined. They just give me a little competition when I make my videos though... But, I love them! They truly are my bliss.

@@ParrotBliss well when I’m at the race track, I have to fight the noise of the cars while on the phone, so why should a house of children or in this case birds be any different. 😂😂😂👍👍 we have three, one parakeet, one cockatiel and our latest addition, we adopted a fairly young parrotlet from the bird shop we frequent. Seems the owner died and the family gave him up. So he is ours for the duration. it’s easy to get into multiple birds. Wonderful different personalities. I still have my eye on a Macaw. Maybe a Hahns if we can get one reasonably or another adoption. While I love the larger ones, the space they need and the noise, I think is above my limits..lol. Keep up the great videos. I’m a subscriber.

It depends on where you are and the age of the parrot, whether it's a baby or an adult. I would expect the price to be near $1,000 maybe all the way to $2,000. Again, this could be a little less or a little more depending on location and seller.

How come Brotogeris is not on your list? Just as playful as conures, but much less nippy. They are in the $300 to $400-ish range in most parts of the United States. Much cheaper in FL and CA due to availability.

Honestly because I've never experienced a pet Brotogerias, so I can't speak to it...

I agree with your list, except that I would add Brotogeris (commonly known as Canary Winged Parakeet) to this list, and place it at or near the top of the list. They are playful, yet more quite and economical than most, if not all, on your current list.
