NFL Combine: ARM MUTANT QB Joe Milton put on a CIRCUS EXHIBITION!!!

Top Billin' Super Sleeper QB, Tennessee Vols Freak Joe Milton put on an arm-talent circus show at the NFL Scouting Combine with easy 70-plus-yard tosses and 62 MPH throws, while also showing the ability to dial it back and put some touch on the ball. At 23 years old, some team could get a potential developmental freak who could sit behind a vet for a year or two and learn the ropes. The Seattle Seahawks would be wise to think about drafting Milton in the 4th round if he's there...

... but the footwork, yada, yada... And wasnt it exactly that what scouts looks for? Being tall, strong armed? ... and he got the accuracy (2-3 throws were off, others had way more today). Now you know why NFL scouts fail (Warner, Romo, Kitna, Johnson, to name a few misses). Congrats. Them scouts are more concerned with wonderlics, 40 dashes, footwork and other BS. I prefer QBs, as long the ball hits the target, I dont care if they needs to flip flop before delivering.

I'm quite pleased that some Chicago staff is speaking with Milton. He has the arm and the athleticism to back up Fields and learn, which we've always lacked in Chicago. We need someone that can takeover when Fields leaves the franchise. Milton has the skillset. I hope we go after Milton instead of Caleb Williams, while building the team around Fields.
@TopBillinSports

I think Milton should play behind a veteran, personally and with a QB Guru like Mahomes or behind a really heavy QB like Geno Smith. The Jets should give him a look, too.

@@TopBillinSports I get what you're saying. With that said, I'm a Bears fan, and I just want what's best for them. The Bears need to learn to bring in decent talent at the QB position and let them learn. By learning, I mean that it should be coming from the mistakes and successes of a QB that's in front of them. Look at the many great QBs in the NFL such as Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes, Brees, Vick, Romo and more that waited at least a year to become a starter.The Bears tend to get QBs; then, they throw them to the wolves on game day. The Bears need to learn from the other franchises to develop a top QB talent properly.
@TopBillinSports
@TopBillinSports 2 ай бұрын
@phoenixDARKprince - If it's behind Fields, then why would you draft him? That doesn't make sense. You get a vet behind Fields not another young guy. Fields hasn't proven himself yet, so you better have a stopgap behind him not someone else who needs developing. You don't learn from sitting behind someone suspect. You learn from an older vet who can show you the ropes, which Fields certainly can't. Or, you draft someone like Caleb to replace him and grab a draft haul for Fields and load your team up.

If we wanna get super mathematical on how far he actually threw: The throw at 0:26 was actually his longest (watching the video closely it's actually a yard longer than the next throw) He threw it from the 11, to the opposing 18 (WR caught it at the 19 but we account for the extra yard the ball would have traveled if it hit the ground) which is a field measurement of 71 yards. Now accounting for the angle, he was in the middle of the field (26.7 yards from the out of bounds line) and the ball would have landed (2.5 yards) from the out of bounds line at a field length of 71 yards. Pythagorean Theorem to find the angle 71² + 26.7² = 5,753.89 √5,753.89 = 75.8 yards

Guys the differences in max mph and max distance among good/top arms is negligible. It becomes exponentially harder to add more mph and distance both from a power standpoint but also because air drag goes up exponentially with speed. Real arm talent is how easily/quickly you can generate good velocity. Less range of motion better. Quicker release better. Less effort better. Example, if you are 6ft7 with a seven foot wingspan and you use all your range of motion and can throw it 80, who cares? 6ft2 75inch wingspan throwing it 70 is better arm talent. Brett farve is a good example of that. 6ft2 shortish arms. Could still hit 75. That’s real power as he can fire it with a quick short release.

Does ball speed play as big of a role with NFL receivers as it does college? I watched a lot of UT games this past year and in my casual opinion, Joe struggled with accuracy but I felt like a lot of the incompletions were him just throwing the ball too damn fast.

62 MPH is a crazy throwing speed, he's also been clocked at 21.3 MPH on an 81 yard run against UTSA. He has all the tools but comprension (processing), coachability and decision making are a real question mark. His accuracy especially on long throws (mostly underthrown) are a problem as well.

The DBs room needs to understand we can’t really give you great scout team reps this week cause we can’t imitate the types of throws and the timing of the throws he can make. NFL defenses feel much bigger than college defenses, NFL defenses could only get cooked by guys with giant arms for so long before they began to evolve. But even for those standards a freak show is a good way to describe it. Id seen a video of him as a hs senior at a camp spin it 70-75 yards. There is a small percentage of people on earth who don’t get scared of a football traveling with that kind of zip honest

@TrentonGardener - Racist guy, Josh Allen's last season in college saw him go for 16TDs, 6INTs and completed only 56% of his passes compared to Joe Milton going for 20TDs, 5INTs and 65% in his last season and 32TDs and 5INTs total at Tennessee. But "Josh made plays" and Milton didn't? No, Josh made it to being white in life and Milton didn't. Milton is 23 and Allen was 21, which is cool, but if you judge by actual film Allen was pretty inaccurate and not all that productive, but people saw the vision and how he could improve with the right situation.
