The stupid thing about the no rear windscreen is that if you’re following a car you can often get a sense of what is going on ahead of them through the rear windscreen. I hate following a van etc for that reason. Honestly, this just seems completely unnecessary.

I love that British people say "saloon" instead of "sedan." It always makes me imagine the car walking into an old western-style bar and letting people know this town ain't big enough for the both of us
@leangrypoulet75234 ай бұрын
For us older Brits, pubs used to be divided into two separate areas, often with different entrances, called the ‘Public’ bar and the ‘Saloon’ bar. The Saloon bar was the smarter of the two, often with carpet on the floor, slightly nicer material on seats/benches, and even curtains. The public bar was ‘spit n sawdust’. The saloon bar usually charged more for a pint, as much as 1-2p more. But in essence the word comes from the French word ‘salon’ - a sitting room or lounge, which is why it was used for the smarter part of the bar but also larger, smarter and more specious cars.👍

Not having a single button to switch between custom (user defined) and sport is dumb. They need to add that in a software update. One button, one click. I don’t want to have to navigate through screens. Ideally that button would be on the steering wheel but it’s too late for that. Also I agree about the key fob. It needs buttons. I mean most of the time I just use keyless entry but sometimes I need the buttons e.g. my partner is trying to get into the car and I’m still locking the front door, I can just click the button and she can get into the car. Seems cheap to remove the buttons. Also a new key fob makes the whole experience of owning the car nicer. I have an Audi and I like the key fob. It’s solid with metal parts and feels appropriate given the quality of the car. That fob that you showed us looked like a brick of plastic. Apart from those complaints though, that car looks fantastic. Good work polestar.

My fear is that when looking at the rear through the mirror, normally you see things at the distance they are which means you focus at them at a distance. I am farsighted which means with and LCD screen my eyes need to focus on the screen which is about half a meter or less away. I won't be able to focus on it :(
@JeremyLawrence-imajez4 ай бұрын
Yup, that was my thought exactly after testing one. You can't quickly glance in mirror, you have to look and consciously refocus, which doesn't sound like much, but it is jarring and feels/is markedly slower. To make things worse the mirror feels much closer to you than normal which exacerbates the issue if you are long sighted. The mirror in our Enyaq is significantly further away.

As always, simply the best automotive journalist on the planet! Tom Ford i love you! But for god's sake ger rid of the " incidental" background " music"... Din! Distracting nonsense. As for the Polestar...hmmm. Jury is out on this one. Just odd! ( And yes the comment about cows that dont mind being skinned had me in stitches! 😂. Being serious for a second, Polestar are light years ahead of Tesla. Odd this one may be ( and yes owned by faceless Chinese corporation) but at its heart an electric Volvo. And in comparison with the worse EV company in the world...yes the Musk Cult, dollar making pile of s*** that Tesla truly is, Polestar should totally destroy Tesla and all it stands for. As for Mr. Ford...tjank you. You truly are a ⭐.

With the touch screens, no real buttons, cameras, and now no back window...they're just making things less comfortable to use and drive but they do it because they need to appear high tech.

I like the no rear window. - Improves the vibes and lighting. - Better backseat headroom. - The instant camera update when indicating is snappy and responsive, reducing your blindspots. - Unlike conventional rearview mirrors, regardless of where you point the mirror you'll get an unbiased view. Meaning you an point it directly at you with no negative effects. I see why it could be annoying and yeah, it reduces depth perception, but I think it does what it sets out to do well.

I've got bi-focal glasses, the bottom third of them is focused for short distance (reading instruments) and the top part is focused for distance (looking out), so what happens when I look at the "mirror"? I'll be looking through the top part of my glasses at a TV screen very close, so it will be out of focus. I haven't tried this yet, am I wrong? Sounds like a dealbreaker for me and a clanger by Polestar.

it's not that close to you, it's not reading distance, that helps alot.

Is it a firmer ride than the P2?

No, it is both softer and sportier (faster) and you can select firm, mid or soft suspension on the screen.

I test drove the new Polestar 2 single and dual motor this weekend and I had the same conclusion that the single motor was actually nicer to drive than the dual. However, I felt that both were pretty "boring" when it came to everyday driving. They just felt slow and sluggish. Sure, if you put your foot down, the dual motor would take off, but when just driving around like normal they both felt tired, with little excitement and fun. I also did not feel much difference between the single and dual motor in everyday city driving. They should definitely have a Sport mode button. I look forward to test drive the Polestar 4, but after seeing this I am not holding my breath.
@mho04 ай бұрын
I have performance version and it is not slow or sluggish. Without performance pack accelaration pedal is tuned for 'long press' mode, which I also felt is too slow reaction or you need to press quite a bit to get power. But decision is to get normal or performance and then you get what you want.

I hope they did something with the suspension, and shock system. When I rode in one. Every single bump was horrible. It was like the car wheels, was welded straight to the frame horrible. Like an early carriage.
@mho04 ай бұрын
Maybe you drove performance version and maybe shocks were adjusted to be hard... but it is sporty car anyway and not supposed to be soft. And if you really want soft car, then just look for other brands.
@michaelbush96034 ай бұрын
@@mho0 it's a different from a stiff suspension. Than if a car hits a slight bump, it's like the whole thing is rattling apart. The earlier version I rode in had the suspension characteristics of a horse, and buggy carriage. I thought okay this is a start up. But then I found out that they were backed by Volvo. Then I thought completely unacceptable!!!!!!

@@michaelbush9603 weird ... I do not have that experience. Feels pretty solid in bumps. Performance versions also have Öhlins shocks, which are pretty much best in the industry.

Isn't it possible to change the drive mode using voice command? In a lot of reviews I hear testers complaining about things that they want to change and they then have to open al sorts of menus on the screen to be able to do that while it can be changed just by the use of your voice now how convenient you want things to be?
