I remember the first time an American condescendingly asked me if we still live in trees in Africa. I shook my head sadly and told him that I’m coming from Maitama in Abuja, and his American house that he’s so proud of would not make it as the boys’ quarters in my father’s house. (The boy’s quarters is the house behind the main house where the male servants, chefs, drivers, gardeners and help live. The females live in the main house). He didn’t understand what I meant and I couldn’t be bothered to explain it to his arrogant, financially-challenged self. Hopefully, he sees a video like this and FINALLY understands that, NO, we’re not interested in his white picket fence.

You'll need to listen closely when they talk. They often interchange money prices between the Benjamins and the local currency Naira. Like when they said monthly maintenance of the house was 400,000K, they were referring to naira, which in dollars is about $350 bucks.

Am glad Americans are slowly waking up and seeing how they have been taken advantage of by their construction companies all these years, , see a house of 262 thousand dollars in Africa then compare to the a same price house in America then ask yourself WHY? They say he who does not tour around always think its only his mother who knows how to cook! Social media is slowly opening people's eyes you can tour Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and many more at the comfort of your seat, very soon many will begin to ask questions...

@TopHill Nigeria also hardly offers mortgages so all the houses are bought with full cash. When you do find a bank willing to offer a mortgage it is usually for 5 years or 8 years and the interest rate is extremely high. So when you see a property for $2m it’s all cash, if the property is $300,000 it’s all cash, this makes it extremely difficult for an average man on the street or professional to buy, you have to save for a long time or find a bank willing to give you a loan.
