The W220 is my favorite Mercedes model. It would seem like an ordinary executive sedan from the late 90s and early 00s, but after more than 25 years the car accelerates to almost 260 km/h. This is a wonderful car.

I love V8 and V12 non turbo. At 200hm/h is really silence. Just one thing, when starting the engine do not keep the key turned, simply turn it to position 2 and release the key, Mercedes since approximately 1997 start this way.

I had an S55 W220, and while it was fantastic looking (probably the best looking S-class they ever made), drove beautifully, it was also incredibly unreliable with shocking quality problems. Mine was bought new and after 3 years and 28,000 miles, it was just a basket case of electrical gremlins, loose interior trim pieces and rattles. I only kept it 3 years. It was nothing like the W140 or W126 examples my father drove. That S55 was incredibly frustrating because it was simultaneously fabulous and terrible. Knowing all the warranty work mine had done 20 years ago (and knowing what the MB techs told me about the challenges with the W220 in general), owning one of these cars today must astronomically expensive and difficult.

I had a 2005 S600 AMG pkg... only thing about it was terrible gas mileage, the coil packs, and that ABC hydraulic suspension. Other than that I loved it!

Туманов! Я проехался на простом S500 (М113) W220 в своё время. А потом меня прокатили на S600, как в ролике. Цифры по мануалу вроде как близкие. Но мля - это две разные тачки! Позарился взять CL600 W215. Ну S-Klasse в купе. Посмотрел пару тачек, примерно по середине рынка. Рынок тогда на них был от $20K, за что-то, которое хоть запускается)). Но там ещё 10К строго, катушки, свечи, фланцы, прокладки. Причём на V12 это всё стоило никуя не как на V8))). Ну и что? Или брать "колени" под проект, или идеал, который стоил, как стадион. В итоге забил)))
