'Top Speed Germany' is a German KZbin channel for people who love cars.
My Name is Max and I film while driving cars. No matter if they are old, fast, loud or electric. They need to be special! With several onboard cams, I record everything important to show you High-Speed-Runs, Acceleration tests ( 0-100 kph / 0-200 kph / 100-200 kph / 200-300 kph ) and test drives on German Autobahn or Road. Please note, Germany is the country of "no speed limit" highways. So in some places, it's allowed to drive very fast. But please don't try this if you are not an experienced driver !! If you enjoy give a like and subscribe for more videos ;-) .

all the old Benz's were like this. in Australia my father purchased a new 67 280s and it was about 60+ klm faster than anything the police had at the time. i remember a couple times mum telling dad off for getting chased out on the highway. back in 1970 there was almost no traffic on interstates compared to today.

I highly doubt it! Manufacturers can set the speedometer to be around 10% higher for safety reasons. Also, as your tyre wears down the rolling radius changes. Over or under inflating your tyres also has an effect. My friend in highway patrol stated that you can get away with 10% plus 2 mph for those very reasons. So no car is 100% accurate, 100% of the time ... unless you change your tires and keep the same psi of air in those tires after every trip to the shops. So just because you're holding a car at 200 kph on the speedometer, doesn't mean you're doing 200 kph
@Gunzee
@Gunzee 4 жыл бұрын
BMW & Mercedes in the mid 20th century agreed to limit their cars to 155 mph/250 kmh. I'm guessing due to safety or whatever, this is correct for cars from the factory. Even removal of the limiter be it mechanical or electrical yields very little gains. Gear ratios meant the speed wasn't much more than the agreed threshold. PS, this agreement is still active & covers a few other makers. Only a few special models have the limit removed as stock, the one that comes is the CLK GTR.

I wont be attempting to drive as fast as the car in this video. Expecting a 50yo to pick up her skirt and sprint is abuse of the elderly. It will be pampered and cared for and given the respect it deserves. Stroke 8 280e lover. One point should be made about the video I note it has non standard and wider wheels/tyres than standard which probably assisted it keep its brilliant stability at speed.

They moved across the road from us, and built the first home swimming pool in the whole of the town. The next door neighbour to my friend, owned a metallurgy company and he had the same car, exactly like this one in the video (except a UK one). My friend’s dad had a “shit brown” 280E, but it was a thrill to ride in it. My mum had a Corsair 2000E, and that was junk compared to the Mercs on our street. @@af4237 " but we see this all the time in the states" - Rofl, I gotta laugh at this. You don't even see new cars in the states drive that quickly, because everyone slugs along at 60-70 mph on highways due to everyone being ignorant and not caring for traffic rules, blocking all lanes, etc. There's no order at all like there is on the autobahn, where you can safely drive quickly for a long time. On top of that, drive more than 80 mph in any american car from the 70's, and they're basically a death-trap. The had super soft suspension, terrible body rigidity, terrible brakes, terrible suspension design and geometry, etc. They were designed to cruise at low speeds and have the suspension as soft as possible. Combine that with them being very heavy and very physically large, and you have a recipe for disaster at high speeds. They had a boaty feeling even before 60 mph, let alone above 120, not that any of them would do 120 to begin with, considering their 6 or 7 liter V8's were producing like 140 hp. None of the american cars from that period were designed for these speeds, because there's no place to drive them like that. They felt unstable and unsafe way before 120, and this mercedes was doing almost 140 actually. 230 km/h. And it's not even about doing the speed, it's about how smooth, refined and stable it is doing that speed. This car is more comfortable, stable, refined and quiet at 120 mph than any cadillac from the period would be at 60 mph.

Back in the days of foreign student, i was moving once my stuff from Dessau to Weimar. I've rent a small truck (type "lkw" in german), and ask my pal to drive it for me, since i had no license. The road of autobahn was very flat (unlike in Dessau or Berlin, which was quite ok, but not as flat as everyone told me about that "german roads" thing all the times...), and we drove smoothly. My friend then told me then: "guess the speed!". Hmm... I thought, ok. This looks fast... If he would never ask me, i'd say we went like 70-80 km/h. But since he is asking, perhaps it's way more faster, but comon... it's not a sedan car, it's a truck... Besides, it's loaded... it should go below hundert. I said, it's 90! He said, nope, it's 140 km/h... I was shocked. Year... It was Mercedes Benz lkw of 2014 year. It that would be russian Gazelle (with all my love), first of all it would shake like crazy, secondly - it would never go 140 km/h. Then, suddenly, new BMW slipped beside us like thunder. I'd say, if we were like 140, probably he went like 280...
