I just enjoy being alone more than being in the company of others. I never feel alone when I am alone. I look forward to going home after work to peace and quiet.

You have a rich inner world. Of course you’re going to give more weight to your intuitive or subjective musings (which don’t necessarily require the vis-a-vis company of other people). It just makes you more independent (for one thing).

I’ve a friend, she’s nice& good but most of the time she irritates me.doesn’t listen to me,gets upset with me,is stubborn, sometimes forget the manner to talk, she pressurise me to do things which I probably don’t like& when I say no she gets upset. I’m an extreme introvert & don’t like being with her much. Recently I told her that I like to be alone with my family and don’t like to be with friends much. She’s again upset with me. Is this a good friendship or not?

As an introvert myself, I can tell you that we may be fairly quiet in person but a lot more social online, specifically through text. Communication is a lot less stressful when you don't have to come up with an answer right away, or worry about people interrupting you and causing you to lose your train of thought. You can take your time to really think about what you want to say, instead of just blurting something out and potentially making a fool of yourself, or offending someone unintentionally.. or at least that's true of myself.

I’ve been with my other half for 20 years. He’s always been loud and sociable, whilst I prefer quiet time just the two of us. He’s recently decided he doesn’t like me anymore, and has been especially cruel and nasty about the fact I’m introverted. I feel like I’m at school again being bullied for being quiet. I’ve spent 20 years forcing myself to be someone I’m not. All I’ve ever wanted is a partner who likes the simple things in life like nature, camping, animals etc, I like the odd social gathering, but I’m not into small talk crap, I prefer to talk about interesting things then make stupid random meaningless noises. Why is it that extroverts are generally regarded as more likeable when usually they’re the shallowest most uncaring of all people. They spread themselves thinly and fake their way through life by being loud and stupid most of the time. Sorry for my rant 😔

I got asked "do you talk", like yes of course I talk but I don't talk much around people who I don't feel comfortable with. The older I get the more I realize how being an introvert is a positive, not a negative, never was. Over a lifetime, the people and things that I wanted to know generally turned out to be unrealistic, I put people on a higher level than they deserved. Exploring, solo, has easily been my greatest reward in life, I just had to keep exploring to find what I was looking for. Hope everyone looking finds that peace as well.

Being an introvert is really easy for me. I don't mind being alone and just doing my own thing. I tried to be around people earlier in my life but it was just too much for me. I had to deal with people who used me or hurt me emotionally and that was enough to realize that I just couldn't develop relationships that were meaningful to me. I have friends that I have known for years and I have respect for them because they respected me. Overall I'm in a better place in my life because I only have to please me.

In one episode of _Buffy the Vampire Slayer_ Buffy gain the ability to read people's minds. Cordelia has no interesting thoughts and just says everything she's thinking. Xander is worried Buffy will find out he thinks a lot about sex. Wesley tries to suppress his attraction to Cordelia. Willow is concerned that Buffy will come to know Oz better than she does. Giles is focused on finding the cause and a cure. Meanwhile Oz is considering the philosophical implications, for example that if his thoughts are the essence of his existence, and Buffy can read them, she is effectively becoming him and also everyone else around her. I like being alone because of what I learned about human nature in my life and that is people Suck... Oh but not you..) I used to be a go out anywhere and do anything kind of person. As you get older you learn how people really are in real life and you become disapointed with people. Most people are not what they seem to be. After losing 3 of my best friends recently of 30 plus years it makes it that much harder to make new friends. So now I sit alone at home. I have become used to it and now I enjoy it. I recently had an old girlfriend contact me and wanted to get back together. Sorry not interested. I have distanced myself from all Drama. I don't like Drama so I stay at home. I prefer a drama free life thank you and like a relaxed life at home. Some say it is not healthy but if you like it then enjoy it. I know I do...

I like spending time with people, but it feels like work. I have to adjust myself to be sociable and fun. I have to be willing to try new things, and compromise, and let other people get their way sometimes. When I'm by myself, none of that is there. I can be selfish. I don't have any obligations or responsibilities. I don't need to respect anyone but myself, and I don't need to push myself to do anything other than the things I personally choose to do. But that gets boring eventually, and then I want to go hang out with people. I need stimulation, emotionally and mentally and physically. It's a balancing act, and it's very important to a healthy life.

The main reason we introvert prefer solitude is that we don't like other people's problems jumping in line of the personal problems we already have. We think, create, stretch out and grow with less or no one around because we hate distractions and entourages offsetting our plans and ideas. We're also less likely to be narcists, braggards or showoffs.

And you also have your own cognitive functions which may or may not require the presence of other people in a vis-a-vis sense (to varying extents). A lead extraverted sensor by very virtue of the nature of that function is going to need a lot more social interaction than a lead introverted thinker or even extroverted intuitive (Ne might be technically extroverted but it’s not necessarily bubbly or outgoing in the way Se or even outgoing Si are). That’s why a lot of ENFPs (for example) seem like hardcore introverts until you get to know them better. The issue is when people who are co-dependent like so assume their way is the only normal way and that there must be something inherently wrong with everyone else. That’s when it becomes very offensive.

I'll also point out even once we fix our own problems, everyone is only ever even more interested in telling us about their problems, because they have seen how well we solved our problems. It is funny how they never seem to learn that their issue is too much talking and not enough listening, but if they were able to listen enough to learn the importance of listening, they wouldn't need to learn how to listen.

The most jarring thing about outgoing folk is the fact that things ambiverts and introverts just expect people over a certain age to be aware of. When you’re having to tell a 32-year-old man to mind his own business and try and override his random compulsion to gossip about complete strangers they couldn’t know less about, you know there’s a problem. You wonder who these people’s mothers are.

My family always assumed I was antisocial simply because I pretty much always wanted to be to myself, but what they failed to realized was that I made friends quite easily. I was friends with everyone and had no particular clique. That in turn made me realize that I just didn't want to be associated with just anyone. As someone who likes to continue to grow, I'm very particular about those I associate myself with. If I can't learn, grow or gain anything from being around you.....I bother to know you. Which was about reason I kept to myself.

I especially resonate with the social talking. I'm really not shy when it comes to social gatherings, I just don't feel the need to speak all the time just for the sake of talking. I'm always happy to answer questions and have no problems responding to people. But I won't just walk up to a group of people and just start rambling. I'll talk if I fell I have something meaningful to contribute

Yet the same ones, Those whom call ME there friend/ Bestfried', I have known just for a year, all the way up to my whole life, know very little about me It not that I'm hiding anything from them. I just don't volunteer or talk about myself , Education, Jobs, Places I've traveled & lived. Yep. They didn't even know I have children, until one of my children call me. Three in my life time could and enjoyed having a deep conversation every time we meet, then we both got to know each other. (To a point).🙏..

Stereotypically-obnoxious extraverts: ‘O.M.G., some people can spend weekends with a book and a solo bottle of wine only for company without being depressed/suicidal? Some people eat lunch alone and are okay with it? Some people are okay being the reserved, smart observer at parties who’s actually Gucci just drinking Sambuca and Budweiser in the corner? Not everyone’s gagging for round-the-clock vis-a-vis social validation? Some people actually enjoy their own company? It’s not okay to make baseless assumptions or gossip about perfect strangers (many of whom are blatantly already down and don’t need kicking) to pass the time?’ Ambiverts (including pensive, well-rounded extroverts) and introverts: ‘erm, didn’t your mum teach you all this when you were 5? How do you not know all this basic respect, personal awareness and social-propriety stuff at this your big age? Are you actually tapped in the head? How did you make it through high school, you stupid, silly, obnoxious little idiot?’

Proud to be a creative introvert though an ambivert when I was young living in NYC as a professional fashion illustrator /floral designer with all the loud noises, crowded subways and streets, starting working for corporate America at age 19! Married for 42 years, raised three kids so been there, done that! Former fitness trainer in my 40s in the 1990s. Love the peace and tranquility at age 74 now, time to read a lot i.e. a lifelong "bookaholic" and time to be even more creative painting, cooking/baking and communing with nature by the sea! It's possible to create a heaven on Earth akin to French impressionist painter Claude Monet! And as introvert American painter Georgia O'Keefe stated, "Be of the world , but not in it"!! Smart woman!

I find as an introvert I get taken advantage of quite a bit of the time, I am honest with myself and expect that is the case with those I interreact with, a lot of people see that as just another of getting something for no or little effort. Being quiet doesn't equate to having nothing to say, as I remind myself daily, it is better to say nothing and look the fool than opening your mouth and removing no doubt!
