The TORA, TODA, ASDA, and LDA are takeoff and landing declared distances.
In order to understand in full these distances, we have to know what a Stopway a Clearway, and a Displaced Threshold are.
Every Airport has 2 different runway directions for takeoff and Landing.
The TORA, TODA, ASDA, and LDA can be different from one direction to the other on the same runway.
The stopway, the clearway, or the displaced threshold may be present on one side only, on both sides, or on neither side of the runway.
So, for example, if you have the stopway on one side of the runway only you have two different ASDAs depending on the takeoff direction.
The TORA (Takeoff Run Available) is the available runway length useable for the ground run of the aircraft during takeoff. It is the distance from the threshold (or displaced Threshold if available) to the other end of the runway or the end of the stopway if available.
The TODA (Takeoff Distance Available) is the length of the TORA plus the Clearway if available, this distance is used to start the takeoff run and transit into the initial climb phase.
The ASDA (Accelerate Stop Distance Available) is the length of the TORA plus the stopway of available. The ASDA is calculated in case of a rejected takeoff.
The LDA (Landing Distance Available) is the length of the runway useable for landing and it goes from the threshold to the end of the runway or the end of the displaced threshold if available.

Dew point is always given adjacent to temperature..(temp/dp).(30/26). The closer the dew point is to the temperature the saturation point is closer...leading to chances of precipitation .

@PILOTCLIMB
@PILOTCLIMB 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching, the TODA is the distance that you have AVAILABLE for your acceleration from brake released to the screen height (TODR), so we can say that the TODA is the distance available for your TODR. The TORA is the distance available for your take off Run (Brake released to rotation). Let me know if you still have any question.

@PILOTCLIMB
@PILOTCLIMB Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Swy is not always present on every runway
@tonydavis1305

Displaced runway surface load factor is exactly same as that of the remaining runway. Whereas the load factor of the SWY is not necessarily that of the runway.. Load factor is the load bearing strength of a surface.

Thanks! My local airport has a turnaround circle just before the 26 threshold which is included within the 26 TORA/ASDA but is NOT included within the 08 TORA/ASDA/LDA. Strange that it only counts in one direction.

@@PILOTCLIMB It's Exeter, UK (EGTE). There is 40 metres of turnaround circle before (displaced) 26 threshold. My guess is that the turnaround circle is not certified for landing/takeoff but allows planes to line up on 26 with 40 metres more runway ahead?
@PILOTCLIMB

@@heterodyne666 I will have a look and I will let you know soon👍
@heterodyne666
@heterodyne666 3 жыл бұрын
@@PILOTCLIMB I think the answer is what I said above. Even if the turnaround circle were structurally capable for take-off/landing, it has a curved edge so the runway width is not maintained. Therefore this area does not count for TORA/ASDA/LDA at the 'stop end' of 08, but it does count for TORA/ASDA at the 'start end' of 26 because it allows an aircraft to line up 40 metres earlier.

Situation: Displacement of threshold is due damage pavement. Hence, it is unusable. Question: Is the displaced distance still included in the computation of TORA, TODA, and ASDA? 2nd Situation, same question: How about if the reason for displacement of RWY-27 is that there is an obstacle to be hurdled near this end. Hope you could answer my questions.

Hi!! If the displaced threshold is damaged it cannot be used at all and that should be taken into consideration when calculating the takeoff performance. The reason why we have displaced thresholds are multiple, one of them is to allow higher take off masses. I hope this answer you questions
