Or Eve added not to touch it...We do not have record of Adam telling her not to TOUCH it... no matter what, if Adam is the head of his wife oh, he can tell her not to touch it as long as he doesn't say that God said not to touch it. Maybe he made a judgment that in order to be safe better yet don't even touch it. Eve did understand it as God commanding that though.

In reading comments, it seems the principle of the message fell deaf on many ears...while adding their take and thoughts to the Biblical narrative. Lol. Why are so many absolutely set on knowing what is NOT revealed, yet ignore what the Heavenly Father does choose to tell His children? It makes us sound so silly. The world does this continually. Shouldn't believers in Yeshua...be different? When we add to, we are actually a stumbling block to others, causing them (and ourselves) to possibly never grow to be whom He intended us to be.

Adam is not innocent, he ate knowing full well that that is exactly what he was doing. At least eve could claim being tricked. If a child does something wrong after being trick or a child does something wrong for doing something wrong intentionally, who gets in more trouble from the parents?

Wonderful teacher, but not sure I agree with this explanation. If Eve or Adam had embellished(lied) about the LORD's command that would have been a sin PRIOR to partaking of the tree. But the partaking was the first sin. More likely Eve is just giving more information on the command than previously revealed to us. What do you think?

In language, this kind of thing is said in addition to emphasize the absolute ban on the first part. It is not to say they could not literally touch the fruit, but that they cannot even take the smallest nibble. She was indicating they were not just banned from eating a whole single fruit, but also of eating even the smallest portion possible = touch. This is why someone teaching from the Scriptures should also be well trained in the nature of linguistics and expressions of speech in the languages.

The lying or embellishing began the instant she began talking to the serpent. Where does sin begin? In action? Or in the heart, where there, we begin to turn from truth? What made either of them sin... blame or who went first is a silly distraction when one is asking GOD this question. Because unless you are asking Him and see yourself in either of their shoes, "explanations of logic" will keep you from the humility to be able to understand where fundamentally we all sin first. The devil made me do it, the woman, the lack of instruction or even "correct" instruction is not the heart of the matter. The enemy can only use what's already there... he has never created a thing, down to a thought or intention... where we sin is in us already to do so. To admit that without excuse is the beginning of wisdom.

Adam was desperate to impress Eve, so he told her to not even touch the tree. When Adam sinned, he knew exactly what he was doing. But he chose to do it rather than lose Eve. Just like our short-sightedness today. Adam couldn't seem to see that God could give him another woman, every bit as attractive as the last one. The essence of Christianity is to see mankind as God does.

Where did the notion of "You can't touch it" come from? Most likely Adam. Because Eve was not present when God gave the commandment. We also see that having examined the fruit and experiencing no effect emboldened her to eat it. This would not be the case if she had made the addition for herself. And since the version is different from the one Adam has, we know it was not God who told her this. It could only have been Adam. But why? Adam was entrusted with the commandment of God, but Adam was also a finite being. He cant know other minds. When Eve comes along he has the choice to give her the same degree of freedom as himself, or to hedge in her freedom to prevent her from making a bad decision. He has the choice of trusting, or trying to devise a strategy to guarantee the right outcome. We see religious people do this all the time. This is legalism. What inevitably ends up happening when people discover they'd been artificially restrained is they rejecting everything ' rebelling.

Adam is the first dinner. Because Eve disobeyed Adam. Adam disobeyed יהוה Avinu informs Eve that she will always be subject to Adam. And the very next statement recorded is to Adam: Because you listened to the woman... (and not what יהוה told you) ... So, obviously we are not supposed to listen and obey women! 🤣

I totally disagree that Eve lied and violated God’s directive when she said they were not to touch the fruit. There are a few reasons why. Mainly she wasn’t guilty of this is she was still innocent at this point in her life. It wasn’t until she took the first bite was she a sinner. Also, the earliest time we have a record of God declaring not to add to His Word is way in the future of this incident in the Garden. Both Adam and Eve, being completely innocent could have wanted to set up a buffer zone in an attempt to give that tree a wide berth, per se. Finally, we have accounts in the 4 Gospels that do not match each other verbatim. If Matthew records the words of Jesus and Mark does as well, but leaves something out, that doesn’t mean Matthew has added to the Lords Word, (nor does it mean Mark has transgressed in not recording it). Not every single conversation God had with Adam and or Eve is necessarily recorded in Genesis.

And you cannot deny that God commanded one thing not to be done, and Eve said God commanded two things not to be done. She added to the commandment given. Regardless of whether this was her “true” sin, you cannot deny that scripture records this discrepancy!

Elizabeth M I agree; Yehovah does not record things like these without reason - we are supposed to take notice of them. So often we read scripture and these 'minor' details are overlooked, and hence we miss out on revelation and understanding. This is why praying for insight before we read is SO important; Something which, I am ashamed to say, I still forget to do. 'Mental note; Pray before reading'.

Even though Gods instruction not add to his word came later but his principle are internal and valid for every generation . if you add to God's word subconsciously that means you misunderstood his word thereby his nature . Hence Eve misunderstood God this is why Satan was able to decive her by convincing her that the real reason God told her not to touch the fruit was that it would make her like God . Similarly God gave the Jews the law and the essence of the law was to love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul and neighbours as your self .yet they misunderstood God's word and thought the Law was a way to be righteousness before God

Before we blame Adam and Eve for plunging humanity in sin we must remember that Christ undid the curse when did on the cross and when we are born again by the power of the holy sprit a new creature is born in us who is neither born of human desire, will or planning ie not by our biological parents but by the will of God and by the power of God part of Christ body .Yes as christians we can do everything that Jesus has done on earth for Jesus himself said that those who believe in me will do greater things than I for I am going to be with the father yet 99.9 % don't live a power full christian life because every time we are enticed by sin like how Eve was we are drown away from God's protection and glory and bring back the curse of sin back to our life again. We must all know there are 2 forces working in us the power of the flesh and carnality we inherited form Adam and Eve as original sin and also the new man or being forged by the power of the holy sprit and the precious blood of the Lamb of God our Christ . Those who grow the seed of the flesh by not chastening and subduing it will perish like how weeds are thrown away in furnace and those who abide in the True olive that which is Christ will be collected like precious crops on the day of harvest separated from the weeds and will enter ever lasting Glory with Christ in his kingdom

P Harrison people who are not born of the sprit have only the power of the flesh working in them , those who are born of the sprit have the power of God which is the Holyspirt and a New man or inner man which is a new being created in us when we are born again . If you end in the flesh you are not abiding in the true wine which is Christ and in day of judgement he will separate those who abide in the true wine and bore fruits from those who did not bare fruits once saved all aways saved is myth if we end in the flesh we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven, for we are warned that in the last days there will be many who will fall from the true faith seduced by deceiving spirits . The where seduced by deceiving sprits because they never chastised thier flesh which will always be fifth column till the day our Lord returns. If we do not follow the guidance of the holy sprit in every aspect of our life, then we will end in flesh holyspirt was given to us not Only to lead us in prayer or to speak in tongues but also to guide us in every aspect of life and we need the power of God to overcome the flesh,the world and Satan . If we are not lead by the sprit then our flesh will take over . For Jesus spoke of people are neither warm or cold this refers to christians who have the power of flesh working in them and never allowed the sprit to chastise their flesh Rev 13:6 kjv "So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth." If you do not follow Yashua's commandments (Torah) which are the Father's Yahuah then you are a lier. I am not saying it, scriptures are saying it. It is hard to good to that hate and to pray for those persecute you, It is because of our carnal nature or self which we need to overcome hence this is what Jesus meant by denying your self and carrying your cross Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me Luke 9:23 Then he said to the crowd, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me. For it's our carnal nature that prevents us from keeping his commandments, this can not be done by human will alone but by through the supernatural power of the holy spirit working in our temple we are Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. We must work out our own salvation with trembling. And free because of the power of the God (the holy spirit ) working in us Jesus himself said that we need to be victorious and overcome the world and our flesh Rev 3:21 Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne. Rev 2:26 To all who are victorious, who obey me to the very end, To them, I will give authority over all the nations. Pls read Rev 3:12 similar theme If you deny yourself and very yourself and carry your cross and follow Christ .ie lead by the holy spirit then Gods law will be written n your heart and you don't need to follow it like a legal law which was never it's purpose else or would lead to self-righteousness and pride Romans 2:15 They demonstrate that God's law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right.
