I started blacksmithing about 4 years ago. I have a friend who is a bench jeweler. I thought to myself, "I wonder if I can make, like, STEEL jewelry with like, fused or inlaid precious metals?" And here you are.

Thanks Nancy the is very, very interesting. I like to see folks challenging the wisdom. I'm sure that a lot of folks think that if they have read it in a book then it's 'the law' and you can only do it that way. Some times you can't improve on the old wisdom, but hey, you have to push the boundaries. Keep on pushing Nancy' Kind Regards . . . Andy

If you use a heat stone instead of a charcoal block, will it make any difference?
@NancyHamiltonJewelry6 жыл бұрын
Maria Nicolaou I don’t know what a heat stone is. I’m assuming you mean a ceramic block or a kiln brick. I would do a small test piece.

Hey...fun stuff. Love the idea and shortening of steps. So, what was the gold and what was the medium used to create your pastie gold paint? All I know is that it wasn't mixed with water. Do you purchase gold dust? Where did you get your gold? And your medium? Thanks for the video. Juices are flowing. Meow Cow!

Wonder if anyone makes Strobe Candles anymore. Remember from the 70's? They create a ton of soot!
@NancyHamiltonJewelry6 жыл бұрын
Hello Lady Hart! I am not sure. But, we don't care about those sooty candles as we don't need them. But, I think you have a new mission: find strobe candles. Then have a black light installed, and of course, pull out Iron Butterfly's, "In a gadda da vida" and some love beads. Peace and love.

Nancy Hamilton My 1/2 bathroom walls were papered by Cow Palace posters from my 10 year older brother, that my Mother threw out because she was sure that the *posters* would encourage me to take drugs. Sigh.

ohhhh please do make a tutorial about deforming the tube in the hydraulic press (not like I actually have a hydraulic press but never say never)... :)
@moonshinesa82345 жыл бұрын
If you eat nothing but chocolate cake, ice cream, doughnuts, chocolate bars and have cream with everything, in about 6 months you should be able to deform most metals by just standing on them. No need to buy the hydraulic press.

Thanks for the video Nancy... I watched a video on using gold sheets which ain't much cheaper than this but it was only burnished on not heated... I feel more comfortable with this method than the sheet... Although i hear it want flake off either..but don't want to take that chance..😊
@NancyHamiltonJewelry6 жыл бұрын
Marilyn B Are you talking about Keum-boo? That uses very thin gold sheet (tissue thin) and needs heat to bond. You also burnish it. I always do test pieces. Very little liquid gold is used to create a test piece. You could do small samples to learn the technique. I have had none lift off. Good luck. Thanks.
@nightstar5256 жыл бұрын
@@NancyHamiltonJewelry ill do that.. Thanks for the info...
@nightstar5256 жыл бұрын
All the videos i watched showed only burnishing it..no heat...good to know..i kept thinking..i wonder if heat would help it bond and i thought i might burn the thin sheets up..lol..i was so glad to see your video...ill experiment...Thanks as always for your videos and your time to teach us...
