Mikia Soraka I never got the impression that episode addressed John Frobisher. The Doctor only thought back to Pompeii and took it as a reminder to keep doing what he did for Caecilius' family. Maybe he regretted not being there for [the events of this season of Torchwood], or knew that his actions had caused it, but he never specifically mentions it.

Guys, a "Blank Page" isn't a psychic paper, or some kind of special instrument. It's a symbolic phrase, similar to "blank cheque". It basically means giving someone else total independence to operate however they see fit, with the unspoken implication that you will support whatever actions they take. In the context of this episode, the Prime Minister gives Frobisher "the blank page" in the sense that he basically says "I want you to do absolutely anything that is necessary to resolve this crisis, but I can't give you specific instructions on what to do because that would result in me implicating myself, and I don't want to risk that". Frobisher then does the same thing by giving his subordinate lady a blank page in a binder, which is effectively his way of saying "Do whatever needs to be done, eliminate the people who need to be eliminated" without outright telling her to do something illegal or corrupt. It's all about plausible deniability for the higher-ups, basically.

No thats not what it means (it is a consequence of what it means however) ... basically he comes to the prime minister with the files on the previous 456 encounter and the prime minister wants those files wiped from the record (and all evidence that they ever existed). Blank page in this case means turning those files into nothing - deleting all info which results in the pages being blank. It also involves getting rid of all evidence for those files ever existing - which in this case involves killing those with direct knowledge/participation in them.

I remember watching this as it came out, I was psychologically scarred. Looked it up on wiki, and I WAS 12!?? What my parents were thinking I don't know but this series affected me so much. It made me want to work in TV, it gave me literal nightmares and most of all it showed me how engaging TV can be, even when you're given no budget and an awful timeslot (Capaldi's big scene gives me chills). I've been waiting for reactors to get to this series for so long!

Micky and martha were originally intended to appear in Torchwood but since Torchwood wasn't initially renewed and later only for five episodes. The two had other acting offers which they took which prevented them from being included in Torchwood

I love Children of Earth. They were given fewer episodes and everyone was worried that it would be watered down since the earlier timeslot. Davies came back with one of the best, most mature and wonderfully messed up tales in Torchwood. I love all of Torchwood, but I think the long form stories of this series and Miracle Day are fantastic.

jonathan coates Earlier timeslot?? I'm sure it aired at 9pm every day on BBC One meaning it was after the watershed but I accept earlier than the 10-10:30 of previous series (For those who don't know In Britain programmes that are considered as having adult content cannot be broadcasted before 9pm and is monitored by a broadcasting watchdog known as Ofcom for broadcast standards. In short it's widely accepted children should be in bed by 9pm)

At last, Blind Wave have entered into Children of Earth! The best series of Torchwood by far! :D I’m expecting them to be destroyed by the end of this! They can already feel how different the tone of this series is which a good thing. Such a good build up! Ianto confessing his love to his sister about Jack was lovely as was their passionate kiss before the hub exploded! The hub exploding is where everything changes and you gotta be ready! Martha and Mickey were originally due to appear in this season and separately in SJA but sadly both actors were unavailable due to other filming commitments. That’s why Martha gets a mention in this episode with her being holiday being an explanation of her absence.

This was the pinicle of Torchwood a fantastic and thought provoking series that was event television here in the UK. It was aired over 5 consecutive days and was given the honour of being broadcasted on BBC One and blew the minds of the majority who watched it. Think we were all as a nation drained by Day 5

Now this is how you end a show, a great mini-series from beginning to end. ...what do mean Miracle Day? No such series exists *looks away* Anywho, I remember this being a proper event. Each series of Torchwood moved up a channel when they were being shown, series 1 was on BBC3, series 2 was on BBC2 and CoE was aired on BBC1 (same channel as Doctor Who) over the course of a week.

Welcome to my favourite season of Torchwood. :) Every episode is damn near perfect. In my opinion, it's one of the very best story-lines to ever come out of the entire Doctor Who universe. I would say I hope you enjoy it, but if you thought the end of Season Two hit you hard, then what's coming might truly haunt you.

I remember when I first heard about this. I love the characters on Torchwood but the show was a little inconsistent for me. Scaling it back to Ianto, Jack and Gwen didn't bother me at all even if I did like Tosh. Luckily she got her own show on Comedy Central . The other interesting thing was that it was played over a week. I couldn't believe they were allowed to do such a thing. It did make things more interesting coming back over the 5 nights. It'll be interesting to see if you notice any pacing issues from episode to episode.

Seasons 1 and 2 were considered mature, but believe me, Children of Earth and Miracle Day (season 4) are FAR darker and much more sad. Your hearts are not ready for this. As for the Capaldi appearance, it's actually explained in canon that he's the descendant of Capaldi's Roman character in season 4 with Tennant.
