Would just like to say you have a fantastic voice. You are about the closest to duplicating Karen’s voice I’ve ever heard. Bravo! 👍👍👍👏👏👏

I was brought up around the time of Karen Carpenter. I didn't believe you at first until I watched Phil from Wings of Pegasus breaking your voice down and how spot on it was and in no way auto tuned. One of the classes i took in school was music and I sucked at it and the teacher sounded a lot like Karen but nothing like you. You sound awesome.

I'm 66 and the first time I heard your voice... It was like I'd waited over 40 years to hear that sound again!!! I will follow your career closely!

Every time I hear Tori sing, I am just blown away. I don't think there is another person in the world who could do that medley so well.

@Tori Holub is just beyond amazing with anything she sings. I’d love to see Tori work with Richard Carpenter and do a “Carpenters Tribute” concert.

Tori is a sound engineer. Those are all her voices. Thats how the vocals sync so well

Could you imagine if Richard Carpenter saw this and asked Tori to come and sing with him?!

They have met. Tori mentioned it in a video, I believe the first time was when she sang at the church where Karen was eulogized. Richard, like me, is getting old though. Time goes on.

No words can describe the beauty, Voice and legendary talent of Karen Carpenter. It is just amazing and mesmerizing. Tori always does an awesome job.

I've noticed on all the Videos I see of Karen in which she looks happy instead of her underlying sadness that always seems to be there is when she performing and playing the drums at the same time! She loved her drums!

The Carpenters were known for overdubbing, which is a great enhancement to their vocals! Tori Holub and Jim Wilkas absolutely nailed the David/Bacharach medley! When I first heard Tori and Jim sing this medley, I was smiling and crying at the same time. I could not believe what I was hearing! To this day, I have not read any thoughts from Richard Carpenter, but I wonder if he even knows about Tori❤

In the studio recordings it was only Karen and Richard singing backup and the harmonies. They would sing the lyrics and dub several layers on a multi-track tape recorder, it was a new technique at the time, and Richard perfected it. Of course in live performances the rest of the band would sing the harmonies. Tori demonstrated how she did the same using current digital equipment.

There’s a 1-2 year old video of Tori demonstrating her attempt at the We’ve Only… harmony. She’s using her “good ole” Tascam 24. It’s on her channel. Goosebumps.

What needs to be remembered here is she's 20 years old and does the harmony herself by layering the mix 😊

Tori's voice is so similar to the angelic voice of KC, it's actually kind of spooky in a way, but in a very good way. However, Tori makes this her own, and definitely has a different feel and vibe than the original, again, in a good way.

The guy playing the piano is Richard Carpenter -- Karen's older brother. That's why they harmonize so well. Lots of family musical groups had that ability. He was also the arranger and wrote some of the songs they recorded. This is a MEDLEY of songs written by Burt Bacharach. This is a large collection of songs, and the portion you showed of the Carpenters was not the entire medley. The first hit the Carpenters had was written by Bacharach.
@jbs2563 ай бұрын
Actually the first “hit” was written by Lennon/McCartney. The first #1 was Bacharach/David.

Just like Karen Carpenter's voice, Tori's voice is a gift from the living God to the human race, a little slice of heaven's sounds coming down to the human race from the Father of Lights! Praise God! Tori, your voice is gorgeous and so is your spirit!

I play music. What Karen did is incredibly difficult but she became the music flow. I've said this and people think I am nuts, the tempo changes remind me of Frank zappa. Tori's voice has been computer analyzed. It is so close to Karen's it is almost impossible to detect a difference by ear.
@jamesdagenais64948 ай бұрын
Karen Carpenter is always the best to me. Tori did a great job on this medley cover. She also had access to the latest in audio electronics. Don't know how much difference that made

James, Tori does her own engineering. Minus the music track on the Medley, it’s all her including all the voices. I’m no Fil but with my limited ability I can’t find that flat line “perfection” but damn she’s close. So the Medley is a cool exercise in vocals. This is just pure simplicity kzbin.info/www/bejne/oquqcpt4iZKtisksi=O5DSCZoLxMLr8Jvq .

Thanks Mugnify for the reaction. I too think Tori is very special. She is a Carpenters super-fan so as you saw, there was a lot of love and respect. Her channel is full of covers of Carpenters songs and many others, too. She did do a few years ago a demonstration of her trying to get the harmonies right for We’ve Only Just Begun. It was a younger Tori and an early try yet, she did good. It does show how she recorded each segment and then put it all together. If that was the first day of school, this Medley was her Masters Thesis. In the Carpenters video, since this was a live performance the band members did the harmonies with Karen and Richard. In studio, for almost all their albums the harmonies were only Karen and Richard. There were a few exceptions. Be well…

Karen's voice natural & perfect pitch with 70s sound technology. Sibling groups always have the best harmonization. PS: in studio Karen usually sang her own backup. I cannot speak to anyone's talent post autotunes late 90s. I'm always leery. There's a documentary about autotunes and how it "ruined" things.

Tori has a terrific voice. Glad to hear she is a fan. Having said that she is no Karen Carpenter. Karen’s vibratos and inflections just come naturally to her. The video from The Ed Sullivan Show was live, live at Walter Reed Army Hospital , performing in front of wounded Vietnam War veterans. There is no editing, mixing, auto tune or anything a vocalist and band would have in studio.. Check out Fil from Wings of Pegasus KZbin channel where he goes into depth of this live Bacharach medley by the Carpenters. IMHO, there is no comparison either in favor of the Carpenter’s version. The Carpenters can be covered, but never copied, especially Karen’s legendary voice.

Tori produced this by herself, so not too shabby. Jim added his half 4 months later! Also not shabby. Tori’s instruments are Guitar, Piano and a little drums. Other videos have her playing and singing. Like; Crazy On You.
