“Parts of the Tory Party are definitely asking whether they belong together.”
Lee Anderson’s defection to Reform UK is “a symbol of something quite big” as fighting factions within the Conservatives threaten to tear the party apart.

@Th3_Gael you've actually dodged the point, she wanted to implement massive tax cuts whilst not cutting spending, therefore increasing the deficit substantially, which the market responded to very negatively. This tax cut was initially reacted to by the right wing press as a "true tory budget", its laughable 😂

@@mattwright2964 Intelligence wasted on KZbin, but I completely agree. Tory policy is mostly driven by instinct, belief, prejudice, and in reaction to isolated cases, coupled with doing what the party's wealthy benefactors demand. Very rarely, if at all, do the Tories actually think holistically, long-term, and using empirical evidence.

we've had it pretty easy under the Tories with the Bank of England interest rate being kept below 2% for over a decade prior to covid, below 1% for parts of that. November 2008 was a RECORD LOW at 3%. Before that, anything below 5% was deemed a good year as it was over 7% for the whole of 1998 and was in double figures for 3 solid years between 88-91 if you think inflation has been bad the last couple of years, you are in for a serious shock when the power shifts

The Conservatives thought they could put anyone that was chosen by a few as the voice of a few in that they put RS in as Prime Minister unelected by the people, they should now have learned a very hard lesson. What the people think and the people want really does matter. There have been a few nameless bodies who thought they could ride rough shod over the British people using RS as the front man. How wrong can they be and are now finding out.

They talk about everything but concrete actions to improve anything of substance. Not suprising when the real power is with financial capital. The government doesn't actually run the country, and hasn't for decades. The same throughout the west, so where is the democracy in that? How much can one talk about oneself and ignore the fact that politics is for the people who live in the UK and not for their own insular interests. The way to win an election is simple.
