I never understood why they fused against Buuhan and not Kid Buu when it should have been abundantly clear that both versions were way too strong for them to fight individually. I mean, they couldn't even stop Kid Buu's attack and had to use instant transmission to escape or else they would have died. And let's be real here, Goku and Vegeta were not even confident enough to fight Super Buu but they were against Kid Buu? IMO I think Kid Buu is stronger. Definitely more menacing. Their logic just doesn't work in this instance.

Buuhan absolutely stomps Kid Buu when it comes from a power/strength standpoint. Kid Buu is a lot more dangerous though because he's pure evil, mindless and unpredictable and is basically SSJ3 level with insane regenerative abilities and much more stamina. Thats a scary combo. Absorbing Gohan, Piccolo, Trunks and Goten has tamed Buuhan a lot personality wise compared to the ruthlessness of Kid Buu.

That Toriyama quote doesn't actually confirm that Kid Buu is the strongest. The interviewer asks a leading question about the correlation villain height and power. Toriyama half confirms the height thing, but not entirely on the power part. He overall talks about how he likes to subvert expectations with his designs. But about power, he says "I wanted to go against the expectation that the strongest characters always get stronger and bigger". That seems like the wording implies that a strong character could end up both smaller and stronger, but doesn't necessarily mean they will always end up stronger in the end. Both the Manga and original Japanese release of DBZ make pretty clear distinctions of the hierarchy of Buu power. Fat Buu < Kid Buu < Super Buu < Buu-Piccolo < Buutenks < Buuhan. It does so by showing their feats of power and the people they go up again, or even outright confirming it with character commentary. Evil Buu is probably somewhere between Fat Buu and Super Buu as well. Buff Buu is also probably weaker than Super Buu as well given that Grand Supreme Kai was able to actually land an attack on him. The fact is that the only forms of Buu that Goku stated with confidence he could actually put up a fight against were Fat Buu and Kid Buu. And due to this confidence, he was excited and eager to fight Kid Buu on his own. To the extent that he arrogantly crushed the Potara earring and said they would make the fight unfair. Even after being drained from use of SS3, Goku was still confident that he could have killed Kid Buu had he not wasted time and gone all-out from the beginning. On the flipside, Goku stated outright that he was no match for Super Buu. This line is in the original manga as well as the anime (both Japanese and English dubs). Goku flat-out states that Super Buu is FAR too powerful for them to face and they would be easily killed if they tried to face him. And he begs Vegeta to fuse with him so they would have a chance. Keep in mind this is just regular Super Buu, after they managed to remove the power he absorbed from Gotenks, Piccolo and Gohan. Goku is absolutely terrified of Super Buu and knows he's no match for him. I'm also pretty sure Super Buu and Fat Buu remember their time before as Kid Buu. Super Buu fears becoming Kid Buu again and actually BEGS Goku and Vegeta not to do this to him. This terror seems to be born of traumatic memories.

Kid buu isn't the strongest majin and here's why. 1. Goku stated that even if him and Vegeta work together they still don't stand a chance in defeating super buu unless they fuse, now with kid buu (all be it goku underestimated him) he was confident enough to fight him on his own. And vegeta even said that ssj3 goku at full power could defeat kid buu. 2. Super buu knows who kid buu is giving the fact that he is him and that he told vegeta that if he rips fat buu out of him, he won't be himself anymore. So when buutenks said that he was the strongest majin (at the time) he wasn't lying.

That interview doesn’t tell us much since he basically implies young Goku and first form Frieza is the strongest (that’s the smallest Frieza) and we know that’s not true. People have stated before that Akira has bad memory when it comes to his own writings. Also, he wasn’t getting weaker with each absorption. Gohan was destroying Super Buu, he then became Buutenks and Gohan could no longer defeat him. Then he absorbed Gohan and became even stronger. The only instance where we see him becoming weaker is when he absorbed the grand supreme Kai.

Actually if that were true then gotenks would have destroyed Super buu already as goku stated when Buutenks reverted to Buucolo he was saying that he could handle buucolo at the state he is in now and Super Buu before absorbing anyone tanked all of Gotenks’ attacks and was pretty much buying time to fight Gohan. THANK YOU! I've debunk that quote so many times. The fact Goku was added in there means the smallest character at the time can possibly be the strongest. Goku had a bigger, stronger Oozaru. Freeza's first form is unquestionably shorter than his final fom and certainly a lot smaller than his 100% final form. Cell had a power weighted version of himself before his zenkai which is bigger than his SPC self. He didn't lose this after his zenkai. Literally every villain before Buu had a bigger, stronger version of themselves. The quote clearly means the smallest character of that time is possibly the strongest. Toriyama himself didn't even say it, he replied the interviewer. So yeah it doesn't mean what a lot of people think.

I am literally rewatching all of dragon ball just now and I am getting toward the end of the kid buu saga, when majin buu transforms into kid buu after vegeta rips fat buu out, goku and vegeta both state that they cannot tell if he has got stronger or weaker (largely implying that the power difference between buuhan and kid buu was so small they couldn't tell the difference. Fast forward into the fight to episode 27/28 and ssj3 goku clear as day states that kid buus power is incredible and that his strength, speed and recovery had doubled!. This largely suggests that kid buu is not only more dangerous than buuhan but more powerful too.

I think it is trying to say he is more dangerous because of his pure evil heart and that he won’t hesitate, but not that kid buy is stronger. That seems clear with how Goku SS3 was able to fight Kid Buu even though he will not hesitate. Also with how Goku didn’t seem as keen to fuse with Vegeta against Kid Boo. Also, you could see when Buuhan got angry and started to rip apart dimensions, Vegito actually got serious for the very first time, whereas Goku didn’t even think they had to fuse against Kid Buu and was fighting toe to toe with him. He is just more dangerous because of how quick he will just go and destroy whole star systems right after he appears, like we saw in the series.

Lemme get this straight Kid Buu is VERY powerful, and yes it was stated that when he absorbs he strays further from his strength at kid form. After absorbing the kais and becoming fat buu, he does lose a lot of power. But he can regain power by absorbing more and more and more victims, eventually climbing back to the power level that Kid Buu was at, as well as gaining intelligence.

@@kurama4824 keeping up in a short battle doesnt mean goku was going to win, buu not only has greater stamina but also can regen, meaning goku was gonna lose, even goku stated b4 gohan left that gohan was far stronger. Also of course ssj3 surpasses ssj1 goku and vegeta, although buuhan knocked them around a bit he didnt kill them but Goku was practically BEGGING vegeta to fuse with him, unlike kid buu who was shown blowing up planets. Also, buuhan was able to stand against a heavily suppressed vegito, even going so far as to attempt to destroy reality, a feat we havent seen kid buu able to preform. Ssj3 goku was about even with kid buu but wouldve lost rather quickly to a character that not only has his OWN strength but a character that is stronger than him and 3 others added in the mix.

Imma put it like this To say kid buu is stronger is to say ssj3 goku can beat gohan Which toriyama kinda already stated gohan was stronger in his mystic form than goku in ssj3. Not only that but buuhan had GOTENKS SSJ3 absorbed And gotenks should be AROUND gokus level if not a tad higher. Having those 2 absorbed ADDED with piccolo intelligence and small addition of power should put buuhan WAY above kid buu. Not only that but buuhan had better feats too. I still believe Buuhan to be the strongest. Perhaps in terms of raw power Kid Buu has more to draw upon and therefore can cause more damage, although power alone I wouldn't say determines the outcome of the fight considering. Buuhan's tactical knowledge from the absorptions combined with the power he has I believe should make him the strongest, even if he is more arrogent :)

Kid buu was definitely strongest as you've done a great job pointing out. Most people ignore the fact that goku was lying about his potential the entire arc. Kid buu was indeed not taking the fight seriously, I know a lot of people will have a problem with your CORRECT verdict but it's correct nonetheless. Both goku and vegeta showed higher levels of strength than gohan by fighting kid buu. I disagree with the belief that super buu(and all his forms) not remembering kid Buu. He literally essentially begged goku and vegeta not to remove fat Buu within him because he will not be himself, so he is aware of when he was still kid buu. Additionally, he was capable of remembering how he beat gohan as fat Buu, as well as remembered that he wanted to fight super strong guys like goku claimed. And yes, this does indicate that Buutenks’ statement of being the most powerful Buu at that point as valid.
