I'll always love these underground malls, such a great use of space with so many skyscrapers and buildings around.

8:10.. "I have no idea where the hell I am right now" This is precisely why I like wandering around in the path when I do my annual pilgrimage to Toronto. Its therapeutic in its own little way 😜

19:00.. I was hoping you would make that right turn. I usually stay at the Fairmont when I am in town. Had you kept going, you would have reached a lavish lobby. From there, you can either exit onto the street directly across from Union station or end up in one of two really nice hotel bars. One of them also serves afternoon tea on weekends.

I worked in Toronto for 20 years, as a temp and contract admin assistant. Worked in all the major bank towers, as well as Queen's Park and small, private companies. I became very knowledgeable about The Path during those years, and was very grateful for it -- Toronto winters are a mess! I'm used to seeing a bustle of thousands of commuters plowing through the walkways, to and from work, in the food courts, in the shops -- this was depressing to see. So empty and lonely.

Hi Nancy, yes I agree it's sad. Im used to seeing it a lively place with people all over, and now it's like a silent tomb :(

Beautiful mall and stores, frustrated to see that everywhere is just empty.

The lack of office workers and tourists downtown has clearly had a massive impact - we're seeing the same thing in central London. Local neighbourhoods however, where people actually live, are doing great business.

Thanks for the comment Peter! The PATH system here is used by residents who are connected via buildings to head to work without having to go outside. If work is shut down or they are working remotely, then there just isn't enough foot traffic. I hope businesses can stay afloat, but it's not looking good. Stay safe Peter!

I think many businesses will still close down. Rents are high and too many people are working from home. The underground used to be packed. 👫👫👫👫

Yes it used to be packed, but it's so empty now. They are going to have a hard time getting back to where they used to be

Technically the world's largest underground shopping complex is in Montreal that has 35 Km of walkways and tunnels.
