I’m doing this right now and on the first 90degree turn, I’m already getting a bunch of that freaking noise on a couple of bolts. I’m gonna do one more 90degree pass but I’m not sure about the third. I’m using stock OEM head bolts too.

Steve, this was an awesome video with clear instructions. I am doing this job tomorrow and your instructions will help me greatly. I have the Felpro head bolts and when I called, they told me 29 ft. lbs., then a 90, 90 and 60 on the final. I am with you, I believe that 90 x2 is good being that these are aluminum heads on the Honda. Again, thank you sir,

I thought new bolts were 29 lb feet, 90degrees, 90degrees, and a final 90 degrees. Used are only 2x 90 degrees?

I got new ones after two times at 90 they felt tight. I got new ones but I couldn't do a third 90 I thought they will snap off, fingers crossed on 2x90

Yeah the first pass already feels tight. Maybe it needs a third due to stretching?

Pide tres si los tornillos son nuevos dos si pones usados siempre y cuando lo mides y están buenos

Propio los grados a ojos tal vez una llave de grados sería mejor

Hi Steve, I watch your video. You said 2x 90 degrees is enough. But the manual said if you have new head bolts they recommend 3x90 degrees. I bought new head bolts but I’m worried if I don’t follow the manual my head gasket will start leaking later on . I would like your opinion. Thanks!

Hello, at the end, did you have issue with only 2x90 for new bolts?

I have an 07 honda crv that needs to get the head gasket replaced. Can i do it without removing the intake?

I've checked multiple times 90 *2 = 180 degrees which also comes out to 64ftlbs. Yes, I've checked. It's just easier to do 64 ftlbs.

Inaccurate way of measurement. New bolts stretch which is what torque to yield means

@@zacharyhuntsman7310 I know what TTY means. I never use new head bolts, I reuse the OEM bolts at 64ftlbs on all my 400-500+ hp K series motors with no issues. I have tested the threads on K series engines, they can take up to 75ftlbs before problems start happening. I've had lots of problems with ARP head studs, but never with reused OEM head bolts.
