Torrevieja in my opinion is an up an coming city. I believe folk downgraded it because it was/is a working city and not primarily a full time tourist resort. Plenty of development regarding housing (La Hoya and Lagoons area) the new port area. I I'm sure the carnival will move back to its original plot eventually. But staying at the Friday Market area is fine too. Its only 20 minute walk from the centre and is well served by buses. Great feeling of community and great mixture of all nationalities. Brilliant mixture of bars/restaurants to match all budgets. Majority of which are open during the winter months. Crime rate is lower. I I may be wrong, but it doesn't seem to attract the robbing/hugger muggers, that other areas attract.

It's not the cleanest, it's not the prettiest but it's a flat functional city that has a lot to offer . It's a great base for touring about its central to lots of areas. Not to mention the great public transport which is free or a reduced rate, we have certainly made use of it There is so much redevelopment it can only be for the best . I think the long term outlook will be fantastic. I love it and always share your videos to family and friends. I feel very lucky that we bought when we did we get to be part of the changes that will make Torrevieja even better xx

I’ve warmed to Torrevieja over past 5 years or so since we’ve had an apartment close by - initially we avoided it like the plague. I now appreciate its authenticity and the fact that it’s not all ‘British bars’, the food choices are excellent and the cultural parades and fiestas are, in the main, impressive.

I had a place yrs ago up near playa flamenca, I live outside a village now in Almeria, we recently popped up to la Zenia and i was shocked at how filthy the place was rubbish bins overflowing, and graffiti everywhere. Weeds growing all over and so so much traffic and it's not even high season!!

Morning Barry, I still Torrevieja and will be there twice this year but am concerned about the increase in late night muggings and stabbings recently. Benidorm muggings also high, especially around Morgan Tavern also bad now. I also dont understand why the rental websites allow mostly fake scammers. Having said that I still love Torrevieja and will buy condo there this year.

@@stevefox743 from what I remember it was the centre 2 18 year old lads at 1.30 am It was posted by his mother, no fatalities. Crime is kept quiet in tourist areas. Benidorm is mostly hugger robberies. phones wallets mostly
