Does the selector stop rivet have its widest part on the inside or outside of the receiver. Trying to figure how I’m gonna be able to crush that once I get it.

11:09 What part is that? This is the first time im seeing a milled built so Im curious as stamped rec's dont have that step
@Mel64d2 жыл бұрын
Milled aks have a front slot where the hand guard nests into. That slot also makes it easier to rivet the bullet guide in as well. A cover (that sheet metal part) is used to cover the slot.
@EliteManMonkey2 жыл бұрын
@@Mel64d Nice. Well maybe I'll check this whole milled thing out. The barrel install reminds me of that on a SIG 55X series rifle I noticed you did not pin yours. Its just held in by torquing it down? On the SIG You screw it on and look for headspace and when you find it you stop torquing. Is it like that at all? I also noticed some milled AK's are press and pins I think the YUGOs are but maybe the others are not. Still interesting the milled world is different for sure

Hey brother, im in the process of trying to replicate the tool thst you turned on the laythe to mate the trunnion and bolt surfaces. Would it be possible for me to get some measurements from you? Im on try number 2...lol
@Mel64d3 жыл бұрын
Hey Cameron, I did not keep any measurements. I just put the bolt in the vise on the mill and used the Digital Read Out to tell me where the hole was needed to place the pin that goes into the extractor hole location. Pin is a pressed in, not machined into the main tool. I located the firing pin hole with a center finder then located the hole for the extractor pocket. The diameter of the main tool is just smaller than the hole in the front trunnion. It's like 0.9060". I turned the step in the face of the main tool to fit into the center hole where the 7.62x39 cartridge nest into. You could make one out of wooden dowels if you really wanted to.
@CLDelongis3 жыл бұрын
@@Mel64d Thank you more than words brother! The pin thing makes sense, and leave it to me to make things more complicated than it should be!lol

What rivets did you use for this? Standard AKB rivets?
@billygoat29013 жыл бұрын
This is a awesome build. When you do the lower tang in this video where did you get the steel block for the rivets? Or did you just simply make that? I have a arsonal that I need to replace the lower tang.
@Mel64d3 жыл бұрын
I am using the ak-builder 'trigger guard jig' to install the lower tang and pistol grip piece.
@jeremy22553 жыл бұрын
Nice! Where the source for those rivets?
@Mel64d3 жыл бұрын
Jay-cee rivets or Hanson rivets.
@sonofliberty923 жыл бұрын
Hey Mel, where did you get that little pop rivet for the selector stop?
@Mel64d3 жыл бұрын
Normally I just make one from a trunnion rivet, but this one in particular came from K-var.
