Tosh really finds some gems to interview. I loved this guy, very pragmatic, clear on what's bullshit about A.I. and what can actually be worrying about it. Able to communicate a practical, useful, outlook on what he's become an expert on. Also, quite a testament to this podcast's ability to grab you early on, because I'm only listening to Audio Issues Tosh, not sure I'd make it through other's grainy vocals.

Honestly, no. His opinions might seem more "pragmatic" it doesnt mean that they actually are, there are growing numbers of experts such as Eliezer Yudkowsky, Stuart Russell, Ilya Sutskever, Geoffrey Hinton who believe that AI can pause an EXISTENTIAL risk to humanity as it is far more likely that an Artificial Super Intelligence might be too much for us to handle, I think he should have at least entertained the idea of Ai presenting some sort of risk to humanity.

Tosh provided the perfect counter to all the talk of killing puppies in the news. When Tosh brought on Ava in his latest show, I had no idea who she was. Initially I thought it was a new family member for Carl and was anxiously awaiting to hear how they were getting along. Realizing that she had been with him all this time, and now he was caring for her through her dementia, with the hilarious complications a house with children presents, and his care for her persisted throughout…well, that’s exactly the kind of thing we should be celebrating and talking about. I absolutely love how well Tosh captures the simple act of caring about others. His edginess cuts in all the right places, while making sure the person isn’t lost.

I think the key to this show is that you get very open guests: People willing to speak very plainly and honestly respond to your questions and humor. (I don't know how you do a "vibe check" beforehand, but whoever is doing that, they are doing a good job.) Of all the AI/Computer Experts you might have had, this one was very relatable, not overly dramatic, and rode along with your jokes as well.
