It's rediculous that you have to have a spacer and a different flexplate to go from what in the 1970's would have been going from a 350 to a 400 trans, and you didn't have to change any of that, it worked no matter what, with maybe the exception of a 6 bolt flexplate vs. a three bolt flexplate for a different conv but most of them would accomplish either one back then as well.

Another tip: Don't use the E version on non TCM/ECM vehicles; I've seen it a lot

It’s a stronger transmission. I’m sure you would be happy with jt

It’ll make your motor feel more sluggish. As it’s a bigger transmission and takes away more power

​@SubePelayo928 is right as GM never put a 4L80 behind a 5.3. The correct motor for the 4L80 is the 6.0. Can you mate a 5.3 and 4l80? Yes is it the best idea. No

The best way is use a flex playlte form a 6.0 with a 4l80 but not the first to years with the long crank don't get the one without the spacer
