I know you probably already have these comments, but here goes: First, only send enough catapults to kill the walls. No need for a special captain. To determine how many you need, send all 3 captains and 1 of your highest level catapults to a citadel. Count up how much damage was inflicted on the walls by that one cat. Run the math, and that will tell you how many catapults you need. I run my best captain for guards (currently Skadi), Wu Setain (for Flying Unit boost), and Doria (for extra VP). Send only flying monsters. Only send flying mercenaries. Only send flying guards and specialists. Eventually, you will figure out the exact numbers you need to kill the level citadel you are up against, and for your troop levels. Once you grow a little, you can actually kill level 15 and level 20 citadels with NO LOSSES. Keep researching!

I know they need another currency, but a video explaining how to balance continued investment into Guardsmen III+ vs. monsters (and where to earn more of the currency as easily as you can), etc. would be helpful at this sort of middling stage.

Cleopatra has no useful bonuses for citadels, it is all about minimal losses and speed to get there. Furthermore the valor reward for citadels is so low that Doria makes very little difference. Using math and monsters, it is possible to do level 25 cursed without losses even without first attack. Doria is a horrible captain, which you should not spend energy on.

I attacked a citadell,😢splat,on a wall,so launch Brawn with all catipults,everyone else 2sec later,then thers bears,oh my

Oh so when you attack citadels you don't attack in once. You send Brann first and then send the attackers after? 🙏🏽💯

It is definitely a game changing resource to have, never use it to revive guardsmen or specialists, only captains and mercenaries if you don't have sacred potion available. Save gold for building upgrades and bonuses, stuff like that 😉😉🙏🏽🙏🏽💯💯
