My dear nephew - yes it HURTS LOTS but it will not last as long as you do the stretching. Keep stretching - stretching - stretching. Working with the pain is what got me through. It hurts terribly and then starts relaxing so the pain is not as sharp. Three weeks is when you start getting comfort - keep up the good work.

Everything about TKR is personal. We all heal and progress at different rates. I found that I had way to much pain to do “Heel Slides”. This technique in this video is how I got my my knee to bend further, quicker. I was at 90 degrees at 12 days and 110 degrees on day 16. I attribute this technique for getting me there so quickly. I am not sure I understood how much pain there would be in recovery. To me, the pain is exhausting and almost constant. The amount of pain is ok as long as your knee is not becoming more swollen, more painful and more hot. I have extreme sharp pain sometimes but if I let that stop me I would not be progressing. Hang in there!
